Revison ("Stepping") Codes

I tried to place these in some type of "best->worse" overclocking order, but only generalizations can be drawn based on charting being done by the overclocking commmunity.

Code:
XP1500+ AGKGA (10) AGOGA (8) AGKFA (6) AGNGA (4)
XP1600+ AGOIA (10) AROIA (9) AGKGA (8) AGOGA (7) ARKGA (6) AGNGA (5) AGLHA (4) AROGA (3) ARNGA (2)
XP1700+ AGOIA (10) AROIA (9) AGKGA (8) AGOGA (7) ANGKA (6) ARKGA (5) AGNGA (4) ARNGA (3)
XP1800+ AGOIA (10) AROIA (9) AGKGA (8) AGOGA (7) AKYGA (6) AGLHA (5) ARKGA (4) AGNGA (3)
XP1900+ AGNGA (10) AROIA (9) AGKGA (8) AGOGA (7) AGLHA (6) AGOIA (5) AGKGA (4)
XP2000+ AGOIA (10) AROIA (9) AGOGA (8) AGNGA (7)
XP2100+ AGOIA (10) AGOGA (9)

Tb2200+ AIRDA (10) AIRGA (9) AXGIA (8) AXDAD (7)
If any of these are incorrect or you strongly disagree about the order of the revision codes, please PM me and I'll look into the issue and revise the list periodically.

Click here for more information (white tech-sheets from AMD) on revisions/"steppings".

As quoted by Rick York:

Quote:
The five letters you are refering to are not stepping codes. They are process revision codes. The stepping is just one aspect of the process and there are very many (nearly a hundred.)

AMD recommend power supply manufacturers

A list of AMD recommended power supply manufacturers can be found here. I do NOT believe this is comprehensive, but it's the only reference they offer at this point...

There are some new procs out (XP2600+...) and also some wattage that can be found over at THG...

Thank you for taking the trouble, Pinky! I found the manufacturer's code info long ago at AMD, but forgot all about it while scoping those tiny letters and numbers on a brand new 1800+.

So I have the "best" OCing "'Stepping.'" Guess that means it'll run well at stock. Thanks, again!

Pinky, the AGKGA XP's are not so good at OC compared to AGNGA. I am talking about 1500+, 1600+ and 1700+. All the CPUs I had were based on AGKGA, AGNGA and AGOIA. Only one AROIA. All overclocked about the same, AGOIA clearly ahead, AGNGA second and AGKGA last.
From all of them at them time the AGOIA XP 1600+ is the most value buy, followed by the 2000+ AGOIA. This second one will do 2GHz air cooled by MCX462, but only some pieces, others crap out at 1900MHz.

Keep it coming folks, this type of feedback is what I was hoping would happen... still haven't updated the list as the "general trend" is still correct, though not exact which is what I'm hoping more feedback will do).

Uh maybe I should actually look at the steppings sometime.

Lol... I'll be pulling the 2200+ out in a week or two (hopefully a week).

At that time I'll post up the steppings of the 2200+ and the 2600+ that will be replacing it.

The 2200+ that I have has run at 2025Mhz @ 1.8v but it was not stable.

If the Prometeia comes in before the 2600+, then the 2200+ will be the Guinipig and I'll see what she can really do.

My xp1600 (AGOIA y) is locked so I'm not pushing it much at all (170 fsb x 10.5) with 1.725 vcore, 100% stability. I underclocked vcore to keep things cooler for now.

My question is this: HOW HIGH CAN I reasonably expect to hit with only an Antec 300 watt ps?

I may unlock it if I don't have to buy another PS (currently out of work pending disability).

OK, I am thinking about getting a XP2200+ and I was wondering which stepping to get ?
I have seen some of them new RIRGA, are they any good for OC ?
And how about unlocking, just plain old 5th L3 bridge connect ?

You use connecting L3 to unlock XP? I ever used to connect all L1. So what is better?

There's no better way, ony one way. For Palominos u can only unlock by connecting all L1, while for TBreds you only unlock by connecting the last L3.
