time to do some trouble shooting my friends. Make a note of your bios settings, and then remove all the add-in cards except the vid card from your pc, take out all except for one dimm, in fact a dimm from another computer would be better, and disconect everything expect the hd. Then try booting to windows, if the problems still there try switching the vid card for a differant one, or changing the drivers for it to the default vga ones. If the problems stops when you've cut down to the basic then put each component in one at a time to see if one of them starts making it happen again. The number of times I've had a problem with my pc that I can't figure and I've done this, then ended up putting everything back in and the problem just being gone is just silly, damned gremlins ![]() |

What kind of memory does your machine have? If it's generic, throw it in the trash. Generic memory is natorious for causing the problems you describe . . . . . I recently went through all my machines, removed all generic memory, replaced it with Crucial memory, and noticed a huge improvement in stability and reliability. |

There's a huge debate a-brewin over this whole thing. Basically, as of next year (some time in Feb, although its slightly different in each country) most of Europe will drop their national currencies and replace with the Euro (not officially called a euro dollar, but the sub-units are cents). The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (catchy) has elected to keep the pound for the moment. The government has said that if certain economic tests are met (inflation rates, exchange rates, growth rates etc. I think there are 6 tests in total, but they're all subjective) then they will hold a referendum to let "the people" choose (but not those people who are in jail, mental, living overseas etc). There is a lot of public opposition to this at the moment because some politicians are setting this up as a big surrender to Europe and we'll lose all our sovereignty .. blah ..blah This is irsquirt reporting from London for AOA Forums.
