New Mobo

Ok, i have bad news. The 8K3A+ i sent back for an RMA can't be fixed.Newegg also said they can't replace it cuz it's unavailable which leaves me pretty angry. They credited me the full amount so im goin with another one. The Abit KX7-333.

Anybody have any feedback on this mobo?

Overclocking and stability issues?

I've read the reviews on it and so far it sounds very impressive, but i wanna know for sure. I wanted to go for it b4 but since seeing Pinky's board run, i thought i'd go for the Epox. Kinda sad the 8K3A+ did'nt work out as expected. Anyways, i thought i'd go back to Abit since i had the KT7A Raid which wasn't bad even tho it was an sdram board and cuz i had crappy ram, it would'nt give me the results i was looking for. Tha's partly my fault.

So, anybody have this board and can tell me what the pros and cons are?

I don't like Abit boards myself, too many problems in the past for me with capacitors and MOSFETs blowing . . .

I had a mosfet blow on my VA6 a while back, was not happy

I feel, for the money, and the amount of time you actually use stuff , that this will work fine.

LF i was thinking about it, but there's really not anything to base it on as far as performance. No reviews to check out and to top that off, on newegg there's only one vote on it. The KX7 has at least 18 with 5 stars and plenty of good reviews that are recent. Also on other forums i frequent, out of 20 ppl who are using the board, 17 of them had nothing but great things to say about it.

And of course the price isn't bad either

Im waiting for N-Force2 Myself.

The KX7-333 isnta bad board, id prefer a 8k5a2+ as it has higher voltage and should be faster.

There should be some reviews out soon (next few days)

Thundr7,

The KX7-333 is a damn great board. I've been both a Abit and a Epox fan for ages. However its is very obvious that the Epox is the slower of the 2 boards. My KX7-333 has never given me any problems and I'm running my AMD XP system at 192FSB for the last 3-4 months now.

Last word Abit all the way......

Paul.K

Me thinks I like the new KD7 Abit board.....

ive yet to see any benchamrks comparing 8k5a2+ to the Abit board ? If you have some please share.

Or are you refering to 8k3a+

If you read all the reviws comparing the two then the epox comes out better in most.
The abit is slightly faster in 3dmark , but thats only one test.

With the higher Vcore I still think the 8k3a+ is the better board for the vast majority of perfomance users.

Thanx Paul, i just ordered it

Holst, that's the one i i had , but had to rma it. I got an email that newegg can't fix it and can't replace it cuz it's not available. And the 8K5A2 and 8K5A2+ have no reviews on it. I was'nt gonna be a geanea pig, so i went with my gut. Besides, i really don't need all that added stuff and i don't use raid . I read all the reviews on the KX7 and went to other forums and snooped around so after careful scrutney i decided on the abit.

Mongo like the first nForce chipset. A lot! Dunno if the nForce 2 will be a spectacular improvement over the original. I assume that it will handle 333 Mhz DDR properly, and the built-in GF4 MX-440 is an improvement over the GF2 MX. The beauty is that you can buy nForce chipsetted mainboards without the built-in Vidcard.

The original nForce's debuted at too high a price. If you waited for them to drop to a reasonable price, they became a good deal, IMHO.

All the performance of a KT266A, yet no 4 in 1 drivers. That's fine by me!

Signed,
waiting to see what the nForce 2's cost. Mongo like the nForce"1."

What about the Soyo boards. I'v heard there performance is very good. I'm thinking of getting one next year. My MSI 6380 has never let me down . I'm only running a Duron 800@918 oc but I'm gona get an 1800XP after I get my new video card. Soyo is a good board right?
