Chaintech 7VJL Via KT333 Athlon or the Epox8k5a2+ or some other socket a mobo from googlegear.com preferably. I already ordered the chaintech, but i'm second guessing myself now...

Newegg.. Last I checked the 8K5A2 (not +) was 90 plus 10 for shipping. That's the board I decided on, as soon as 2400+ is out.

That's where I got mine! ":O} Go for the +

You might consider the 8K5a3+ as well.

The 2+ was 15 more, but with raid, 5.1 sound (? I think) and on-board lan, it's definitely a bargain. Also, the 3+ is another $15 and gets you 2 more raid channels. I already have raid, a spare ata100 card and nics in a bin, so that's why i don't need the +, but it is definitely a good deal.

Seems not long ago, that on board raid was a $50 premium.

Yup, and with good, quiet, fast IDE drives RAID setups are becoming more and more common... my next major rig will be Raid 0+1 with a minimum of 3.0ghz power...

as an 8K5A2+ owner, I am very pleased. I haven't pushed it too
far yet, but it is solid. I believe the Chaintech will actually be a
good performer also.

Please, let us know how the Chaintech 7VJL works for you, mrpcman!

I'm resisting a KT333 mainboard. As resistance is futile...

well cloasters, i'll let you all know if it ever gets to my door. As for resisting the kt133's: The only advantage that i have seen is the 1/6th pci. Other then that, it's like the differences between the 266a and 333;minimal.

Hey, I would definately say go with the EPOX. It's one of the best brands for AMD, and I will personally attest that the fastest way to spend a lot of money on a computer is to buy cheap motherboards. (note that motherboards is plural, not singular.) A good motherboard is worth the exta money you put into it.

Join the revolution! Eliminate floppy drives forever! Buy a $20 compact flash reader and a couple CF cards. These come in internal designs that you can put in a 3 1/2" or 5 1/4" bay, as well as external! Encourage motherboard manufacturers to include this with their boards. It's a cheap PCB, folks. It shouldn't add more than $5 to the cost.
Please feel free to copy this and put it in your own sig.
