Ok I think I'm ready

I took my CPU out lastnight just to see which chip I have, it's a 1600 AGOIA Y , can't remember the rest of what is on it and have misplaced the Post-It I wrote it on. Ok here is the big ?. I am running a GlobalWIN CK38 shown Below. Will it keep my CPU cool enough? I my case temp stays close to room temp (75 deg f). I guess I'll try the unlock and OC this friday or saturday if y'all think the cooler is enough.

Here's what mine is right now with the same CPU as you have.

But I also have the Vcore @ 1.95.

This with ym AX-7 with the 68.5cfm Delta.

Thanks LF , I sort of figure chips are cheap enough to cook 1 hopefully not though. I'm off all weekend so I now know what I'll be doing.

Not likely that you'll cook anything as long as you have a heatsink on it. You might not get stable operation though.

These come in internal designs that you can put in a 3 1/2" or 5 1/4" bay, as well as external! Encourage motherboard manufacturers to include this with their boards. It's a cheap PCB, folks. It shouldn't add more than $5 to the cost.

I liked my Cak38...ran my old tbird 1.33 at 1.7 all day long and never broke 50*C under load. (granted I managed to mod my case into a hurricane tunnel with all the fans) I guess to sum it all up, that HSF will do you fine....so long as you can bear the whine from the delta

I replaced all my fans (1 front bottom, 1 backtop, 1 center top and 1 in the side window blowing on my PCI cards all 80mm) with Delta's before I relised just how loud thay are plus the 60mm on the CK are just about enough to drive you nuts, I have been comming home from work each night and working on a 5v - 12v fanbuss to try to quite down what sounds like a hand vac, but......... my case stays at room temp. and my cpu even after 3 or 4 hours of S.O.F 2 or MOHAA is 115f or less :-D .

115 is nice Mine tends to hit about 125 to 127 (around 50*C) but I use a 2400 RPM fan on the HS. Turned off all but 3 of the 80mm/s and there 3000 RPM'rs so there not too loudf finally just threw the delta in the trash. Noise irritates the crap out of me now, and I'm not seeing the performacne from water cooling it yet. (that was not an invite for 300 people to try to sell me on the idea) I'm content with upgrading my $9 hsf to a $14 copper one. Didn't drop me like I though it would temp wise though. Was as 135 with the delta on that old alum one. Now I'm using a fan that spins at 35% of the speed and drops the temps too. Also turned off 4 case fans....musta did something right

To paraphrase a well known bit of dialogue from a movie, "I love the banshee wail of a Delta 38 in the morning."

OK, not really. But addressing this problem costs money that I don't have at the ATM, atm.

According to an article about fans that I read recently, every fan manufacturer lies through its teeth about the noise that its fans put out. They are ALL louder than the maker's admit. Somehow, that's not a great surprise.

Yeah, but once you hear the delta scream... you know that's the real deal.. Ever since, I've mentally benchmarked all fans I hear from that high pitched whine.

I know for a fact my tolerance level lies somewhere well beneath that noise level.

Sitting here with then less than 3ft away, I hear them but it is strange they just blend into what ever, hehe.

I have even fallen a sleep in here more than once

If/when I ever go H2O I think I will miss the sound, I could always burn the sound on a CD
