Lookey here

Not bad, not bad at all... not worth upgrading my motherboard for, but not bad...

Very good... hopefully it will be available soon..
The low overclockability could be troublesome tho down the road.

I'm still waiting for the 2400+.

He was overclocking using the stock cooling, and no apparent voltage increase.

With propper cooling id expect equal overclocks to a Xp-2400, maybee a bit more.

Deep down, I'm more concerned about AMD's ability to stay in the mhz race than my personal overclocking ability. As long as AMD survives, Chipzilla is forced to compete at a price point that isn't complete gouging. Competition is good for innovation too.

(of course that doesn't mean I don't want to good overclocking CPU )

It could be the prototype Nforce2 holding it back. That was suggested at the Aces review, showing the 2600 performing just as well, if not better.

I hope that they haven't already reached the top end on this core.

None the less, they'll still cost less than a comparable intel.

I think it is quite safe to say they have reached the top end on this core already. It won't be available 'till "late November", which means this is a product targeted at Christmas shoppers. After the Christmas season comes the new year and with it Barton, a Tbred with 512k L2 cache sourced from Tiawanese semiconductor foundry firm UMC. Initially Barton will likely be clocked slower than the parts we are seeing now. Later in Q1 we will see Clawhammer, the first K8 core and the first CPU to support x86-64.

All I can really say is Waiting, waiting, waiting...........

It is beginning to be somewhat laughable. Even though I use to run Intel systems exclusively in the past. So yes I've added to the wealth of the company. Especially the prices they were charging then.
I've enjoyed my time with AMD though. It just seems that AMD is happy to plod along now in INTELs shadow.

These paper launches were something INTEL was getting to be known by. ie P3 1Ghz etc.

That stockpile of .18 parts must be large indeed.

I hate to say it but...the Dimm man may be right about the top end of the TBred. What the hell, they aint even out yet.

I guess that the question should be:

Will the Barton actually ramp farther?

hmmmmmmmm?
