AMD 2400+ Temps/Voltages

Hi all, new here and whatnot..

General question: I'm running my Athlon XP 2400 at 11.5 * 201. Voltage is 1.95 (read by the Epox as 1.93).. idle temps are 38-39, full load is 45. Question is, is the voltage too high? I like the overclock but not at the expense at an early CPU death. A lot of people use 1.85, though I've read that the CPU can be run at 2.2v and still be ok.. any input here would be greatly appreciated. Long live AOA!

from what limited(?) experience ive had, id say 1.9v is perfectly fine. mine runs alright at 1.850v (as far as it goes)

Generally anything under 1.90 is considered quite save, risk goes up from there.

So 1.93 should not be significantly more strenous than 1.90. It BSOD's when I set the voltage to 1.90 with the same settings.. so it needs that bit extra.

I would say be adventurous, but if you fried your 2400+ thats quite a bit of money you need to replace it with.

1.93v should be ok in my opinion.

i run way over two volts on my 2400 with no problems

tems stay at 29 idol and 34 load if you can keep it cool voltage isnt gonna hurt it

heats the enemy not volltage

I need 2.00 volts to enable windows to boot at 2.4Ghz with standard air cooling but that is my limit in terms of voltage. If I go any higher the machine will not post.

How the heck are you guys keep such low temps?! I have a SLK-800 and a 70cfm Fan w/ ArticSilver3 Paste and the lowest I have seen at idle is around 52°C In addition the lowest ambient temps. I have seen are around 30°C

180x12.5 at 1.75V

What bios you running? If its a newer one like 2912 then the temps are being read from the diode inside the cpu, and not from underneath the socket area. Temps will be higher because of this. Try using a bios such as 2812 and watch you temps fall :)

I am using the 8/15/2002 BIOS...and there is even a newer one that just came out today.

Is there any reason not to use the BIOS that I would suspect is giving "more" accurate readings since it is from the CPU itself vs. from "under" it?
