Which board to get for my new Opty 165?

Picked up an Opty 165 and a couple gigs of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146970 for a price that I couldn't pass up.. didn't have enough time to think of a motherboard to stick these beauties in.

I'm not going SLI so I've limited it to 3 boards..

What kind of experiences do yall have with these if any... I'm leaning towards Epox just because it's what I've been going with since my 8k7a+, 8rda3+, 8rda3+ Pro hehe but I've no knowledge of how the A64's are faring on them since I'm still sporting a Barton 2500+ Opinions very much appreciated as I'm wanting to make a purchase before the week is out.

Thank ya :)

there's nothing wrong with getting an SLi or Crossfire board, even if you don't plan to make that sort of upgrade. The chipsets have to be able to handle a slightly larger load while offering these capabilities, so please keep that in mind when making your purchase.

what cadaveca said. it only takes one strong pci-e video card on a sli mb
to get the job done. there may not be a quantum difference but I believe
there is enough to make the SLI mb your #1 choice. I did!

Still dunno which board to get. I have most of my parts ordered.. Processor/Memory/Hard drives/DVD+RW.. still need a case, power supply, motherboard and video card hehe.

Looks like you can take more time deciding on a m'board if you buy the other components first. Yo, little help here please.

Looking at some other boards now..

Abit AN8 32X
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127232

and

ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131568

Is this a bit of an overkill? Does Epox have a comparable board?

wouldn't go near that Asus go with DFI or EPOX.

What's wrong with the Asus? I mean a board can't be all bad with all the reviews/positive feedback it's gotten.. any particular reason?

cadaveca 26th April, 2006 10:51 PM

bios issues, and lack of bios options for decent overclocking. If you want a mild overclock then asus is fine...but the same dollar can get you much better overclocking from DFI, or , apparantly, EPoX. I can't hype EPoX, because they won't give me a board to play with and see for myself.

Welp, went with this board..

Ya newegg is great with RMAs.. one of the reasons I'd gladly spend a few bucks more there than at other online places. I've RMAd 4 or 5 things over the years and have had 0 problems

Of course, I am a bit biased (BIOS'ed? lol), but EPoX has been kicking all serious forms of ass for years now, and the 9NPA series is no exception. :boxing:
