is it worth upgrading to fx-60 from x2-3800?

current setup, gigabyte ga-k8n-sli, cpu-x2-3800, 2GB pc 3200, BFG-GT7900oc, 250GB SATA3.0 hard drive, 500 watt ultra PSU, and 30.00$ audigy sound card. this is my second build and seems to be fast and stable. will a fx-60 make my system much faster?

Welcome to AOA Forums, danq!
To be honest, I'm not certain. My best guess is that you'd not see a worthwhile improvement in performance, considering the expense.

cost is 440.00 at newegg

Why not save the money. Who knows what the new year will bring?

I would wait a bit. Even though the FX60 and the FX series in general are good, i would wait or get an X2 4800. Or even an opteron X2.

Spend the cash either on your girlfriend or getting one. Women are far more rewarding then megahertz.

Probably not worth the money.

Are you overclocking? If not, that is free extra performance!

If you really want to blow some cash. Spend the money on an Intel board and Core 2 Duo CPU.

Sure it would work. Lots of good bang for the buck coolers out there. I like the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro and its very affordable.
