Modified Axp2000+ With Pictures!

I have come up with an AWESOME idea on how to modify my thermal probe and athlon xp 2000+ to get more accurate temperatures. Using VERY FINE tools I have managed to make a small insision in the processor, next to the core and above it. I have read up on the amd specs for the processor so I knew these "holes" would not do any harm to the processor" I also picked these spots because the insision would take out the pins that lock the multiplier.
Pics below!

Well I at least cannot see the point of this, since the xp has the internal diode, what is the point of tearing half of the surface of the chip away? that will make it run like an oven, less are to get rid of the same heat? I hope this is a genuine experiment and not an attempt to get people to destroy their chips..... The hole bored through it would cut the traces from the CPU to the pins. So I would be absolutely amazed if any functionality was retained. You say it just takes out the pins that lock the multiplier, this to my knowledgle isnt true, the only reason a cpu is locked is because no current can pass through these pins (hence connecting the L1 bridges).

You should talk to duckman about his high precition Intel Unlocking mods :D

axe 17th August, 2002 05:39 PM

what did duckman do?

axe 17th August, 2002 05:39 PM

I am planning on filling in the hole with a anodized aluminum so it will run cool enough to boot.

I saw an article on how to overclock a P75 to 900mhz, wired up an arc welding PSU to the mobo, and used watercooling via hose pipe into case....... methinks this may be along similar lines!

instead of using a .125 drill bit ...i think i'll use a 1/2 inch drill bit.......bigger is better ...faster.......yea......
