A little about me as of late

Well as you all have seen I haven't been on much lately. I've been REALLY REALLY busy with work. I'm sure you've read the threads that I've posted about us loosing people at work. Well I've had to cover for a few of them. (guess they think I'm "good" or something ) So for the past couple/few months I've been leaving for work usually around 7 am and getting home usually AFTER 7 pm. THIS has been VERY stressful for me. Kristien has noticed that I've been yelling alot more....... and I've been finding more empty bottles around the house and in the trash

Anyways, on to the happy news!!! I'll be getting married at the end of the month!!! If you (anyone) wanna come (it's going to be on the beach) just send me a PM. So I've been dealing with planning all that stuff out as well.

Some of my spare time is taken up trying to learn linux as well. It's been more fun than frustrating which is a good thing. Any pointers would be moucho apreciateo!!! Right now I'm trying to figure out were all my linux source files are.

Onto something more recent, one of my REALLY REALLY good friends is going threw a hard time right now. I got a call from his (very recent ex) the other night that I had to go and "deal" with him as he got taken by the cops (this is TOTALLY NOT HIM) for attempted suicide. So after making SERVERAL phone calls (and not really getting anywere) I found that he was being held for observation at the hospital. (not much I can do) so I went to bed. I wake the next morning to a phone call from him asking if I can pick him up. So I said sure nada prob (we've known each other since we were like 8) I had to make a quick stop and get a customers box (copier) working.

So I get there and have to wait a few mins and they bring him out. He looks like crap as he's says he's been up for over 24 hours and the past "day" has been crazy. He tells me about the place he's been in for the past 8 hours and the "people" that he had to be with. I tell him not to worry, I have an idea what it's like in there (I haven't been in there but I've fixed machines that sit right next to those rooms) and like I said some of the "people" that are in there are REALLY OUT there.

So he starts to tell me about what happend the night before and that YES he did try to kill himself (I would NEVER EVER expect this to come from him) Like I said, I've known this guy since I was 8. I guess breakup can be really really hard on people. He said that honestly he think he had a breif laps in temp mental insanity.

Anyways........... we get back to his place and he gets a chance to clean himself up and change into some clean cloths. He tells me that it would probably be BEST if he wasn't left alone for a while. Cool, no problem I just have to make a call to my boss and "explain" that I need some "personal" time for a while. He understands and we are off to the bank. I need some money so we can sit down, talk and get something to eat. During our "brunch" my phone rings a few times......... turns out one there is a machine that REALLY REALLY need my attention (no one else can work on it) So I tell him that we are going to have to go on a road trip.

On the way down we make a few phone calls and work it out with another one of our friends so he can stay with him. Get that all worked out and dropped him off......... end of a crazy day for me.

So..... that's what's up with me lately, how about you?

Robbie,

No wonder you haven't been on the server shooting me in the head and trying to stab me to death! You're one helluva good friend and...

CONGORATS on the wedding! WOOO! I've never been on the beach, sounds like fun! Around what area will you be in? It may be time for me and Jazzy to take a road trip!

Robbie, Congrats...
Sorry to hear about your friend. Too bad I don't have any excuses to fly out to CA any time soon. The closest I'll get is Las Vegas in the fall. I'll be back is Mass again soon probably...

I may be up for a road trip again this summer.. I hit about 30 states last year with the kids. Somehow, 3000 miles coast to coast may be a bit too much for my family. If you end up on the east coast again, lemme know.

Congrats on your marriage. Sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like he needs some robbiedose.
Weird how employment is getting over here in the Desert. Have a friend who works for Sun Appliances (Palm Springs) and he has almost the same work hours as you. He said that is because there isn't many people working for them and they're needed.

Hope you can get out here this summer. I'm planning a meeting with a member or two. Maybe I'll give SJ and TD a buz and make a weekend out of it!!!

Hey Robbie.

I know exactly what you mean about work. I have been all kind of crazy busy since Huricane Ivan hit back in September. The only time I get to come home is for bad weather and waves that make it to rough for us to work. Even then a lot of times they make us sit on the boat at the dock to make sure we won't leave.

It's either feast or fammine, nothing in the middle. Only problem with making that much extra money is no time to spend it (or in my case six extra people moved in and none of them have a job and they are disrupting my house and spending my money like it was free, and to them it is, man relitive can get on your nerves). Anyway, I feel your pain brother.

As for your friend, I can't even begin to understand that and am not even going to pretend that I can. I hope it all works out for the best. I do however know what it is like to have so many people making demands on you. Even if it is just a bunch of little stuff that adds up and up and up. It gets to the point that you wish someone, anyone would just do for themselves just for once. Work makes demands on you and it seems like they rely too much on you because you are better than most. Then you come home exausted and even more demands are made.

Then something like this happens. I am speaking from my experiances, not of this situation, but of situations of extreme stress cause by others making demands on you, and you spreading yourself to thin. OK so something like this happens, and part of you wants to help your friend or relitive or whatever, but another part of you, a very small but very persistant part is resentful that with all you have to deal with now even more is being shovled on and you really want to help but you really don't need this right now. If you let it that part of you will eat you alive from the inside out. Don't let it. Yell, scream, take a sledge hammer to something you have been meaning to throw away anyway. Get drunk, talk to your girl, do what ever it takes to get some relief and get it out of your system.

BTW
I can't make it out for the wedding, but I am putting in my vacation request for tomarrow for July 8 to August 5. I should see you around July 11 or 12. After that it is off to Sea World, Knotts Berry Farm, San Fancisco and the Warf, Then Sacremanto, then wine country, and back down to Temecula. See you then too. Then Vegas Baby Vegas!

Hope it gets better
Maurice

Congrats on the wedding my friend, I'm sorry I can't be there! I hope married life works out great for both you and your soon-to-be wife.

Sorry to hear about your friend. He probably needs all the support he can get these days, he is lucky to have you as his friend!

Hey Rob,

Don't let the work kill you man ! The only real fight against fatigue is relaxation, a lot of sleep and a loving wife. Nor drinks neither yelling will get you up and running for the next day. I tell you this from personal experience. Don't let them change your life. You need time for your lovely lady and for you. No matter how much you get on the payday wouldn't make up for timeloss. I know you already know this and I am not a preacher, but I have been there recently and I had to say it. Congo Rats from me also as Logan says !!!

Chris

An update if you will,
He's doing better. He's getting sleep and eating again. Eating healthy too as well. He wanted me to go with him tonight to church, so I went. It was enlightening. I remember going as a kid (I think I was raise catholic) And just being bored to tears with the whole thing. Up down, up down up down........... that's all I remember.........

Anyways, after went to his place and made some turkey sandwich wraps ( turkey, ranch dressing, tamatoes..... etc... god stuff) talked and bit and then I came home.
I'm off to bed. More from me and more on my kids tomorrow.
Rob
