Over reaction?

Me, two of my brothers and my mother were discussing the BBC 1 Drama Spooks, which is about attempted Terrorist Attacks.
The older brother was arguing the case that Spooks is morally wrong for talking about plane crashes just a few weeks after the events at Heathrow.
Well, things got heated and the other brother left the table - saying he watched Spooks for the plot line.
Then the older one said, "You Can't watch Spooks and enjoy it".
I said, "I enjoy it."
Then, it was like I'd dropped a bomb. My mother and my brother told me I'm sick, he also said I need to re-screw my head in.
I couldn't beleive what they were saying. I'm deeply shocked my own mother seems to support these views that I'm sick and need my head re-screwing.
I just....can't beleive it. I feel really hurt. I really want to cry - but I can't.

Say what? I presume by events at Heathrow, you mean the PR stunt that BAA pulled in the name of security? There is a lot of "security" that is actually just PR to make people feel safer. It doesn't do anything but make it appear that things are being done about security.

I fail to see how a drama about such things is morally wrong - however, I have not seen said program.

The PR stunts cost a lot of money!

At my local airport we have a bobby with gun stood there doing nothing all day long. His salary must be £35k or more.

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo--livin' in the USA. We love explosions, can't get enough of them. Part of the smog in LA is from all of the explosions for the movies they make.

When I was a kid in olden times a local tv station would have a religious program at like 5:00 Am on Sunday when only me and the dog were up. Neither of us could have been more than five.

It wasn't that I was religious, it was,...well I never quite figured this part out, weather it was the station before the show or the show it self....yeah?

But right before the organ would open up, there was a nuclear explosion that went on and on and on then the God show showed up... I tell you that must have shaped my metaphysics!

I can remember thinking, How do you explain not being able to make it home in time and having a load of crap in your pants to a God like that! I really can, I think that's cute! LOL

You can't imagine my relief when Jesus showed up in my Parthenon of Gods.... but it was a while before he could ease out Nukes as the ruler of my throughly intimidated Cosmos!

You know, there must be a lot of tears in heaven...":O}

OMG, Spooks, it's awesome. The thing that seems to have happened is that you are the only one who isn't relating it to real life, which is how it is mean to be, which is good. They've over reacted, it is only a TV show and it doesn't matter what they think, that's all it is. I don't see anything wrong with watching a program like this.

Mind you, any PR stunt that involves a great many people standing around aimlessly is big business for you lol. I'm sure the Airport's facilities were never designed to cope with a load like that

And the bobbys standing around on the tarmac will need a crapper sooner or later.

Most of what we see on TV in the UK, on UK channels, is meant to be good for you. The BBC must obey the government. The gov decides on the general flavour of what is made and broadcast.

Hence, we end up with a load of dramas based in hospitals. The country needs more nurses, etc. So, they like to make out, on TV, that it is the most exciting place in the world. The skip out all the dirty bed sheets.

So, Spooks must have some message to convey to us. I've not seen it, but I'm confident the bad guys get what's coming to them.

Aye, often the careless words of my mother cut me to the bone also. The venom with which they are spoken comes as quite a shock, as it is seemingly out of nowhere.

I'm not sure if you can relate, but I hate it when this happens, since I don't have much support in life other than my mum. And when even she is against me...

True loneliness.

Hope this helps.

Posibly the words and anger was not with you personally. Sometimes is a case of wrong place wrong time.
My father didn't teach me how to play baseball or basketball or any sport . Grow kind of angry for this until I found out that he suffer from Polio (now erradicated I think) at an early age. So he could not teach me any of this because he didn't know.
You see my friend, we parents, can only give what we have and what we have is what our parents gave us is our life experience. Some people learn how to love and share love. Others don't or get somrthing in between.
On the other side you now know how much this hurts and you got the opportunuty to break the chain. Don't do it to your kids. Become a better human being.

Hope this help.

Aye. I don't hate my mum for getting angry with me; I forgive her, and just withdraw into my music.

Often I can see that she's not really angry with me anyway - it just happens that I am around when she is angry with something else and takes it out on me. It seems like this with what you said too AP - when tempers flare up during an argument, people often say things they don't really mean.
