Fire! Fire! Fire!

Uh, yeah...one of my pc's burst into flames overnight. One wall, one desk, one camera, one printer, and two rigs dead. Sad thing is that it was teh wife's rig and a spare....I had just got the parts to put in her rig yesterday, and didn't have time to do anything with it.

FAH production will drop a bit...hope they get that ATI client out and it works well so i can recover.

Everyone is ok...the giant SNAP! as the psu went woke me up in time to prevent more from blowing up.

Glad it wasn't more serious. Any idea what happened?

PSU blew. Dunno if it was really the culprit, as the breaker went as well, but the flames coming out the back were a good indicator. thank god for fire extinguishers!

Think a few of us would be interested in the brand / model / age of this PSU. I know that you wouldn't be using rubbish, but wow, they arn't supposed to catch fire are they? LOL

Pictures would be awesome... Are you going to RMA the smouldering corpse of the PSU

Jesus... a Liberty 620?!?

You soooooo have to borrow someone's camera and take heaps of pics... of the fire extinguisher powder over everything... the smoked rigs...

Should frontpage it and get it INQ'ed. You know how much those boys love it when expensive crap bursts into flames

LoL. I'll try. It's been kinda cleaned up...cpu, mem and ivdcard are ok, mobo is hosed. Currently priming again to make sure it still overclocks as well, Using a Thermaltake 680w.

I'm gonna try to get a camera from my neighbour when he gets home from work. Dunno if he has a digicam tho...

Second rig is a mystery...may have been the power bar that caused the problem....but everything else that was in the bar works ok. So maybe it wasn't the psu. Whole rig is dead, except a few fans. The digital temp device is hosed too.

Man, that's tough! Sometimes I really really hate a mystery! Sorry you lost some good things, very happy you were left with all your best things.

yes, the most important things, my family, are just fine. the rest i could really care less about...just something to keep me busy when bored.

Very doubtful that it was truly the PSU that caused the mess, because of the second machine...but the only thing with a "burnt smell" is the Enermax PSU. It's still underwarranty, so i'll jsut get another unit.

It's too bad teh fire wasn't bigger, TBH, as then my insurance would cover all teh stuff, but with what went, the increase in rates isn't worth it.

All's well tho...

Would be cool to see some pictures but it's still interesting to know what might have caused the flames? I thought a high quality PSU had safety measures in it.
