Thanks for letting us know how the battle is going, Rob. We've been concerned, glad that you checked in! Not having more of a "progressive answer" from your MD's has gotta suck, I really hope that they have a more definitive direction to point to soon. I'm glad that they didn't give you one of those machine and mask setups for sleep apnea, they are cumbersome and annoying to use. Please let us know how you're doing before next Christmas, so to speak.

"Ya know the good thing is, surgeons like to cut people open"

I got that from talking with one of my customers, and it just might turn out to be true in my case. I had my visit with the surgeon yesterday. He said that the leak pretty significant and that the aortic valve will have to be replaced.

He also did talk about the work that I have had done and made mention that USUALLY people in my shoes have another operation to fix things again in there 20's and that my work must have been REALLY good cuz it's lasted well into my 30's.

The next step is for him to consult with a couple of other doctors but when the word is go on this it will be about a month until my operation. So we are probably talking sometime this year.

Kinda scared, but relieved at the same time.

I should hear from the surgeon soon.
As I know, you know. (yes sometimes with a delay, sorry )

I'll be praying specificly for a sucessful operation, a patient doctor, an experienced doctor, quick recovery and financial aid. Do you have insurance that will cover this? or at least help?

My good friend I am so sorry you find your self in these difficulties. "Man is born to troubles as sparks fly upward!".

This being so we are often nervous wreaks! ( OK maybe that's just me!) I'm often a nervous wreak!

It is at times the work of several days to calm me in the face of the storm I know is coming.

As we age we feel the pull of it's winds increasingly, the grip weakens and our own reassurances of immortality begin to naturally fade in the wrinkels that line our faces.

For all that this world is shrouded in mystery , our coming and our going unknown to us...

This is what I cling to, this is the best thing I have to give anyone.

All beings proceed from and return to a common source...Can what brings forth all things and then reclaims them be truly unfamiliar to us?

"Where lies the final harbor
once we unmoor, no more?

In what rapt either sails the world of which
the weariest will never weary?

Where is the foundling's Father hidden?

Our souls are like those orphans whose mothers die in bearing them
and the secret of our paternity lies in the grave
and we must there, to learn it."
Herman Melville

Yet in all of this mystery there is this to ground us and give us footing....All beings proceed from and return to a common source...Can what brings forth all things and then reclaims them be truly unfamiliar to us?

Be well Robbie...we are in this together, all of us, in this together...":O}

I'm really glad that your "condition" is going in a positive direction. Not knowing must gnaw on you in the middle of the night in that yummy earthquake Big Fear kinda way. Please go easy on yourself, you're not famous for taking it easy.

The phone call

We got a call yesterday (fri) from the surgeon. He said to call him back today or anytime this weekend. WEEKEND? you want me to get a hold of you on a weekend? This MUST be important! So at around 10 we started to make some calls, we left our number and then hung up... the next minute the phone rang.... it was him.

He had a chance to talk with a Pediatric surgeon and he was glad he did. There are some unknowns with me. Somethings that were done when I was a child that need to be checked. So I will go in for another heart cat and this time they will look at the right side of my heart. Take some measurements and then after the test is over, I will probable be admitted.

Insurance wise, I hope too put this off till Oct, but as it looks now, we are probably talking a couple of weeks at most.

Hasn't hit me yet... but I feel it comming. So much to do.

So at this point your still in the exploratory phase? Still trying to figure out exactly what is troubling your heart and how to fix it?

Never easy waiting in doubt.

Hang in there your one of the last hard men.":O}

Naw, they know what's wrong.... they just want to be 100% when they go in there they are not surprized by anything else.

As I've said, I've had work done as a child (3 years old) they just want to check out and see how that work has held up and if they will have to do any other repairs while they are in there.

From what I've gathered... when they got ya open they give ya a complete "tuneup"

My Father in law had a Tune up and he died...54 years later...":O}

He was among the very first to get a pace maker...

Your Repair when you were three...that's held up rather well to.

I'm sorry Rob, did you say when your going in this time?

I will hear from the other surgeon ( there are two ) on Tuesday (maybe but sometime next week I'm sure) They will probably tell me when they can scheduel my next heart cat. And then right after that test I'll probably head right in to the hospital.

So, very soon I think.

Wow a weekend call! Thats impressive. He must really be concerned about your situation. thats a good thing as opposed to getting the run-a-round. Its probably a good thing that they plan to take care of any other concerns while they are allready operating. Its better than having to go back and operate again.
So are you saying recovery is a couple of weeks or being admitted is a couple of weeks?

Recovery is about 6~8 weeks, I might be in the hospital within the next couple of weeks.

I'll upload a video of my leak to aoa files. Can someone please link it when it's up?
Thanks

But.. if we see the leak, we'll worry more about you. Seriously, I'm glad that the situation is moving forward, and you can bug us while you recover!

Thanks to my man Giz for sorting it for me. Here is a link to the video.
Robbie's Heart Valve

You know the drill, click on the yellow text to download it. I'll try to do a couple of screen caps for those you can't really make out what's going on.

And for those of you that are a little bit queezy, don't worry too much it just looks like an x-ray.

That was kinda neet. Not that i could interpret all that I was seeing.
I do have a gift for you though. Think of it as a temporary replacement!
