Just cracked 30k in 3d mark 01

nope that was cheapo twinmos at 260 2-2-2-5 got some ocz vx coming even cheaper which might boost me more, altough ive cracked 25 in 03 and 10 in 05

The most powerful solution would be some CPU cooler (could be old socket A one) mounted on the GPU - I've seen many inventions like that and all work real well.

Hmm...You had double the ram i have, what were you ram timings?

And you had a slighty higher mem clock on 9600XT, what cooler were you using?

The rig was "a bit" different from the current one :
Epox 8RDA3+ rev.2.1 (stock bios)
Athlon XP Barton 2500+ (locked)
2x512MB Twinmos Twister PC4000
timings weren't impressive at all : 2.5-3-3-11 dual channel
some older Catalyst drivers (I can't recall, but probably 4.3)
9600XT had Samsung 2.86ns memory chips and aluminium heatspreaders (GPU OC was a mistake - stock cooling)

The memory shouldn't matter : Socket A dual channel is about the same or even less efficient than Socket 754 single channel.

Is a 9600 a dx9 card? Sorry yes of course it is? but 3dmark 01 is only uses dx8

Im dissappointed Brad, of course 9600XT is a DX9 card. I have DX9 installed and 3DMark01SE installed, and it comes up as just 3DMark01 and DX8. Is my computer that....abused?

a pelt is a TEC, pelt is the peltier effect which its nickname was derived from. Its a small piece of ceramic which recieves some voltage, and heavy current and it removes its rated amount of heat from one side to the other, and produces its own amount of heat. When water-cooled you can drop your temps well below 0, depending on your ability to cool the water. They require seperate and beefy powersupplies however. This would qualify for extreme cooling, for REALLY good overclocks. Not for beginners

DXDiag. And I know ive installed DX9, i reinstalled it the other day. 3DMark01 still only reads it as DX8.
