Cool It!

No tearing, no artifacts!! if it does it freezes. That is why I keep the gpu down around 660. for now it will only go higher on Aquamark (672)
pencil modded the memory that is why it goes so high.
as to temps it really depends on how cool it is in the room or outside. Last night when I made that run I was idling at 48C. you saw the 51C before it had fully cooled back down. I have never no matter what I am doing ever seen over 61C. This winter I am going to rip it up with this card. I understand it so much more now than just a few weeks ago.
The Pencil mod on the memory and gpu should be done to get more out of the card. They are very easy especially now with the Head gear you ordered so you can see what the heck your doing!! I have to use it.
I also took off the little fan I had over my cards fan and added the same size only it is 70mm x 25 and moves far more air. My temp fell from 48C at idle today to 45C So it was worth it. It only cost a couple bucks at Nexfan. Since I installed the Microsoft update for Conroes I can run 4gigs of memory so much higher and tighter that I am playing with that right now. Hope to see you back at it soon Daniel. Chris that was a nice score. Be patient, you will get more and more from your machine. To show you how thing have progressed over time .I used to be really proud of this one. At the time for a 5900FX is was at the top of the world!!
That was with my 2.4C before I got the memory that finally unleashed that machine to a daily clock of 3637mhz.
So when you knock off 35,000+ be real happy!!

EDIT! My bad runing @ 658 rather than 668!
Second Edit: Needed more voltage on my CPU, which up it's cooling demand and raise my CPU from 39 to 41C and GPU from 41 to 41C

Got card back from Koolance 72F Ambient CPU @ 3.6 gigs is 39C and GPU @658/1.3 is 42C. Ran a few benches, real hard to get it any hotter, CPU goes up, but only ambeient seems to effect GPU much, have seen it once at 45C between 3Dmarks maps...

Daniel would you post a pic of your card clocks. I don't understand the 1.3 on your mem. If you are running at 1300mhz on your mem that is DDR2600 and that is by far a WR!! I get my mem to 1070mhz and that is boardering on the WR for mem speed on the GTS 320. Please post a pic of rivatuner or ati tool or what ever you are using.

Rivia tuner no longer works on this card. I've been using display panel with cool-bits. Have got 1.4 nailed down now.

Bear in mind I went for the 640 megs of ram.

Can you take a shot of the temp with that block. Actually...well never mind. I was going to ask for a shot of the block installed but that would ruin the surprise in the review.

I was not trying to be pushy...just interested. I love full cover video blocks.

Curios if it dumps a lot of heat into the loop. and all that stuff. I will be patient.

I'm still looking and trying to understand what all is going on. The stock card on air without O/Cing ran 50-50C, so real gains there!

My CPU seems to have picked up approximately 3-6 C depending heavily upon ambient, which makes it hard to pin down.

Currently I'm at 3700 @ 39C idle, but it holds really well and my cores are staying mid 50's and seem quite happy. my GPU also now idles @ 39C so a balance seems to try to assert it self in the loop.

Going with the jacket hasn't hurt me, that much seems pretty clear... but the journey was not without obstacles which I will relate in a more formal setting..LOL

OH! I used Koolance thermal paste on my CPU, will have to go back to Arctic Silver to check that out as a possible cause of the temp going up a bit, I'm pretty sure it's right around 3C in cost at idle and I think less under load...still looking, nothing certain as yet..":O}

Who makes the best thermal paste these days anyway?

I suspect what Display panel is telling me...it's a bit flaky on this card, tried to set an optimum O/C for me and went nuts! LOL

I've never used the ATI tool for obvious reasons....but I feel like slumming today..":O} I'll give it a try and report back next month when I have it semi-figured out, should answer some of our questions at lest.

I thought the ATI O/C tool worked with Nvidia cards! It don't see ATI, it don't need you! Artifact tools is all I can use, pretty cool really, But I like anything that praises my system.":O}

I am little worried here, Daniel I think on the whole you are having just way too much fun!! Really, I am glad the way Koolance came through for you. And that it is up and running once again!!
Hey Daniel with all those cpu and gpu/mem speeds you ought to be able to smash 200,000 in Aquamark now. I got to tell you it is a kick watching your little ship just scream through the test!! I am set up right now since it is very warm now, to run at a daily clock of 3718 and my card is set at
615/900. This combination gives me perfect stability and game play and it keeps my Aquamark score at 201,000. Not bad for just a daily clock.
I am still running the 158.22 drivers.

Ok been playing with power strip. As you suspected Display panel is false reporting, in fact nothing seems to work really well with this card, but powerstip is most works able. Notice the Switch from Display panel to Powerstrip....I also lost around 80 points by dropping from 3.7 to 3.6 at it hit 72F here, very ambient senitive above 65F.

I used the 158.20 for the first few days, then switched to the 160.02's yesterday. Really I'm faced with to many variables to say witch is better. The weather has turned on me and I'm having trouble beating or even equalling again the scores posted above.

Best I seem to be able to do today is 1030/663...

But I think I may be missing something...one of those variables...":O}

What are you using to overclock your card? I Dl'ed the ATI tool but only the Artfact checker works?

Spent yesturday staring at my case temps, made some changes and lowered case by 3C

Case now 3C above ambient, Water 3 C above case.

With Card water jacket in the loop I'm @ 36C idel (3700) CPU and 39C idel(1030/663 8800 GTS, Ambient is currently 67F

100 percent load (3Dmarks and Everrest reporting) 39C CPU, 41C GPU
