Had a couple of new toys make it onto my bench this week.

Managed to snag an E6700 at a very good price, a friend of mine and I went in on three new in box units for $500, sold one for $250 and kept one each for 125.

Also have an ICFX3200-T2R/G sitting here to test and buy if the price is right. I've worked with the board before, they're alright, just alot of work involved getting the board to perform as well as any other board does out of the box. Still better than my Infinity 975 that tops out at 403FSB with voltmods.

you should see a real difference between the 6700 and the 6400. the extra cache makes a big difference. Enjoy!!

Hey chris that is a very nice o6 score there!! I am using the 158.27 drivers for XP-32bit. I like them better than the 158.22's

You say you did both mods Tom? One with the C.Writer and one with a pencil? Got a favorite pencil type? ":O}
Daniel I always used a HB type. Get your multimeter near you and off you go. But hey what's that in your mailbox? Hmmm you've been a naughty boy and ordered a 8800 just in case? Patty where are you?

Costs more to ship than to buy! But looked worthwhile just the same, ordered a pair.

NOW! JUST TO BE VERY CLEAR, as I'm not sure I'm understanding you Tom. Are you saying you were able to do the volt mod and the memory mod without having to solder? Can use pencil instead?

Please bear in mind my near infinite capacity to misunderstand and screw things up! ":O}

You should be able to do the mem volt mod with the pencil. The Gpu mod will take a conductive pen.

To check the volts, ground the black lead and touch the red lead to the point shown in the how to.

Never thought about you ordering them on line Daiel. There are harbor freight stoeres all over down here. I thought they would be liberally scattered up there also. But still worth it! I was born with bad vision and time has added a great deal of insult to that injury!!

No sweat Tom, I'm a big boy, I can take the pain! ":O}

OK Did both mods, good for 700 on the core and.... the Ram, well I'm get another volt meter tomorrow, I don't think this one is what I need.
No matter how much pencil I put on I can't get a changed reading of 2.0 assuming I'm reading the damn thing correctly. On DC 2.0, on ac 2.3
but on desk top, still trying but it looks under 820. I also thing I'm shy on the v-core, might go a dot up in voltage tomorrow at 1.4 now..I think, but I never see 700 if I wasn't ":O}
Way open to advice! LOL

Or more exact instructions on how to use a volt meter, this one's probably fine... being pig ignorant is the pits! ":O}

Don't know Sam, I can't get a "good" reading on the RAM. I'm seeing almost all my real increase in 3DMarks from RAM.

Once I can get a reading on the pencil mod, I may or may not do better.

Also considering Upping the V-core to "Two Dots":O}

What happens if I use my circuit writer pen on the ram resister...? ":O}

would that fry anything or just OD the circuit? LOL

Since my card is water cooled, I should be ok for 1.5

I think shorting out the resistor is bad. It should read 553 ohms

Set your meter to OHMS. Touch both probes across the resister, black on one end red on the other, It should read 608 stock. Shade the top of the resister until it reads 553 on the OHM meter.

Figured out the problem, my "current meter " doesn't have fine enough increment at the ohms level...":O}

Waiting for Patti, she went shopping.... there's just no time limit on that...

Just to pass the time...

Once I get my meter I'll check things out. My core doesn't seem to want to go past 691... it will, just doesn't do me any good in bench marks, slows things down... is there a governor of some kind? BTW how do you guys set your cards up in the BIOS, I've been using Auto, trying 100. Any settings I should know about?
