RoboHornet Browser benchmark

RoboHornet is browser benchmark that comes from a mixture of organisations that wanted a way to benchmark browsers in a more real world manner. Currently it has JSPerf, YUI, Google, Facebook, and others contributing to it.

It seems to run happily on desktops, laptops and mobile devices.

So, benchmark away! If you have a dual boot system, it'll be interesting to see what differences that can make. Where possible, take a screenshot or picture showing the results, and note the platform it is running on. That would include the device/computer specs, the OS, and the browser.

I gave it my best shot A! I even shut down Folding and my music!! I'm currently in Mint 64, will boot to 32 later today and give this another try. I hangs on SVG resize and never comes out again, just keeps running it on and on , judging from the Percentage, it goes way to long to be right. I'm in Firefox 16, may make a difference...?

Yeah, Firefox seemed to take forever to complete the SVG resize. I ended up leaving it running and went off and did other stuff. I didn't time it, but I'm pretty sure it was over 20 minutes!

Ok I've cleared the decks and I'm in 32 bit...running it now...boy that's a long one! But it did finally compete! This is Firefox 16.0.1, wonder why Aedan's Firefox 15 kicked my ass?

Back once again! This is Firefox 16.0.1 running on Ubuntu Precise. nVidia drivers are installed. Same hardware as Win7 64bit above, so comparisons are possible.

That's a good question - and I don't know how to answer it! I suspect it's a combination of browser performance and computer performance. In theory a 64bit browser should be slightly faster than a 32bit browser, simply due to more working registers.

I should try the same version of FF under Windows, as FF15 under Win seemed to be a bit faster than FF16 under Linux.

From that point onwards, I guess it's going to be theorise and experiment!

Right, here's FireFox 16.0.1 on Windows 7 64bit.

Slightly faster than the Linux version, which is interesting.
