Let's Vote for our Leader

Well after giving it much thought, I've decided to drop out of the race for becoming the Team leader of Benchmarking here at AOA. I've been mainly focusing on OTHER parts of AOA such as the folding and other things that I might get involved with down the line.

I know I could probably pull the people together to get this done, but I have always felt that inorder to be a boss you have to KNOW what your talking about. (IE My bosses use to be techs in the field. Just like I am now) So they have been there and done that. They can talk the talk AND walk the walk. To be honest I don't know much about programing. I use to program some back in the day, but as of late I haven't bothered to teach myself VB.


The WHOLE reason that I brought up the thing about voting is becuase like I said I DON"T REMEMBER VOTING. I don't like it when someone just stakes a claim, or feels that they are better then me in anyway.

So as being that it was just you and I that were nominated and no one else seems to be bothering, Your it. BUT.... I would say let's WAIT untill the end of the run BEFORE you start jumping up and down.

Rob, Only you know your heart. I'm not sure if it is wise to allow someone to run uncontested. I do understand your motivation to drop your name in the hat. Your knowledge and support of the folding team is much appreciated. I also know how hard you work on other projects we have discussed. I know you would be a good leader in the fact that you have always been up front with me in accepting you don't know something if you in fact don't. You then proceed to locate the info you need to make a decision. You understand the quality of allowing others to make calls on things and wait it out to see what happens before making rash decisions. All of these are good qualities for a leader. Your jovial side is a double-edged sword in that it makes you likeable but it can at times come back and cut you in the same swoop. You have other qualities that make you likeable as well.

You would have gotten my vote based on our past joint projects.
I really have no vote in this and you have pulled so it's a moot point I guess.

I'd be quite happy to take on the benchmarking job if the votes go that way, personally I'd have voted for Rob, but I respect his decision.

Geez all this support. Maybe I should have stayed in. But the MAIN reason I didn't stay was because of the LACK on knowledge on my part in VB.

What the hell do you need to know VB for? There's no way we're going to be using that. I suggest you put yourself back into the race, as this is probably going to eventually be somehow integrated into the forum (you guys seeing a trend here? I like to integrate stuff )

We can keep the Benchmarking quite firmly "On-site".

Thinking along the lines of sticky's; Welcome and guide, Where to get various benchmarks and what those benchies do, and a 3DMark team sticky.

Along with 3 or 4 floating threads for posting scores and compare URLs, the rest of the topic being given over to the polite conversation of benchmarking, and it's derogatory effects on your wallet!

Glad you're having a change of heart Rob, no VB knowledge here either
