today at work someone brought in a Gateway MX6450 laptop they bought about 3 weeks ago and said he had a worm and had his campus techs have a look at it. i dont know what the hell they did but they somehow erased his drivers and all the "software" that comes with new computers. He was complaining about this and that and we didnt give him such and such when we did a Functionality check when he bought it. He talked to a manager and what not and we got the situation figured out and he paid for the service that was given to him for us to fix his problem.

Just like you do with every other manufacturer, you go to their support page to get the drivers and guess what. THEY HAVE NO FREAKING DRIVER SUPPORT FOR THEIR LAPTOPS! i spent 1.5hrs looking on their website and found only the wireless adapter driver. I decided that i would go to the floor model on display to see if i could make the driver & apps disk b/c the one i was working on didnt have that option for some reason. I wait almost 30 min for it to make one DVD with the things i need. once i put in the DVD into the computer im working on it locks up the computer. after a hard restart on the lappy i got to the option that uses the drivers & apps disk and it says to insert the Drivers and App's CD, eventhough its already in there. after 3 hrs of work that would normally take 1 hr i had gotten pretty much no where.

so what im really trying to say is GATEWAY IS THE WORST COMPANY FOR COMPUTERS AND SUPPORT.

Taking a while to respond i see

the first link only gives drivers for the memory card reader, 56k modem, wireless driver and touchpad dirver. the gateway update utility wont work through the proxy at work

tried. when i try with the browse all downloads, the chipset driver it gives me is for an Intel board but the gateway has an Athlon 64 board.
