need ideas

i'd like to mod my new box. and i've seen some creative stuff online with blowholes to pvc to legos.

can anyone give me some ideas?

i was thinking of modding it for creativity and for better ventilation/cooling purposes.

thanks,
barneygumble742

If you are worried about dust and like cars.....

Maybe a couple of these with an 80mm fan under them, one over the CPU and one as close to it for air over the video card.

Sounds like you have looked at the ideas. what you need is the gumption to " JUST DO IT " Take the case apart and get to modding. There are literally hundreds to look at online. They have a common thread. The first cut!! Get a dremel and go for it. get a jigsaw and go for it. Go buy a remnant of plexi and get to it. If you bought a case with premodded windows, send it back and get one with nothing,so you can actually mod it. you'll never know how good it feels to do a mod that is your own if you don't make that first cut.

Incase you think this is all too hard, click on this link
it is my 8 year-old son's first mod. He cut the holes in the case I cut the fan hole. yes his top window is not perfectly round but,it is damn good and his side window is great!! I drew out the cut line ,he cut it! I masked it off. He painted it!! I painted the front bezel. He did the bulk of the wire rapping ,I guided him and told him how to do it. this is his mod!! At 8 years old!!! Ok Ok I'm a proud father!

actually, i thought of this a very long time ago. except the one i looked at didn't have a chrome covering. i decided to get an air filter even though i'm not big on cars...it'll make my case look like its got a turbo charger or something crazy like that.

i don't know if this is a good idea or not. but this is rare and i've seen only two people online post their pics. what they did was take a giant fan from a mainframe and put it on the side of their case with a blowhole. i'd like to get one of those fans if possible. i think of of them was just a tiny table fan from walmart with a standard appliance connector powered externally.

my overall concern is not motivation when it comes to modding as one poster suggested. it's just that i've seen a ton of pictures of modded cases but i'd like mine to be somewhat unique yet i'm not very creative. in the past, i built a case out of pvc pipes and when it came to mount the mobo/psu, i got stuck and the case is still sitting in my garage holding up boxes.

Weldzilla, how about writing a beginner's guide to modding cases for us?

barneygumble742, if you can find an old unused computer case somewhere you could always practice some cutting on that before having a go on your tower.

Can you post some more pics? Say, the back of it, the inside and the front with the front bezel removed.

- back and to the left
- left side with the mobo tray down. the mobo tray is very flimsy and turned out to be a disappointment.
- front without the bezel

mobo tray need not be heavy duty. You just need to be light fingered. That is a great case to mod up. I seen those from some outfit on ebay for around $22. I am a very very busy guy but , I will see what I can do about a thread for beginning modders.

You could do with a front air intake, maybe a couple of 80mm fans or one 120mm fan. Alternatively, put a 120mm fan on the underside - there's quite a bit of ground clearance due to the castors.

what i'd like regarding ventilation is a "wind tunnel" effect. someone mentioned it in another thread i think.

i thought about getting a car air filter for my pc but now i don't know. i was at a car shop today and i was lookin' around. i came across the end of an exhaust pipe. immediately i thought of getting 2 or 3 of them (depending on the size) and putting them on the top of the case with fans on the inside. what do y'all think?

Might sound like a hair drier, but maybe not!

you could always start w/ something simple, like trickin out the CD-ROM were it looks like its not there and weldzilla has a good point, get a drimal tool its a investment that will go a long way and can be used for more than case mods, but adding stuff like fan holes is a good way to start to, and but just take your time and think about it and always plan. even with lots of planing with this movin on up! i still ran into odd and end trouble that i didnt plan on and its my 3 case with with multiple mods to the other two. most of all dont be afraid to ask questions every one here will gladly answer it however stupid you feel the question might be its better than jacking something up!!!

theres to put a fan, once again ill reference to may MOVIN ON UP tread movin on up!, i wouldnt go as far as moving a psu, but a fan over the video card is a good one to start with, a friend of mine has dual 92's on the side to blow air on the HSF and the GPU, on mine the 3x 80mm's in the front, 2x 80mm's in the back, and 1x 80mm on the side all intake and the 3x 120mm's in the top and 2x 120mms on the side exaust. may computers are set up to move the air front to back so the front intake and the rear exaust,
