Gizmo's Dragon Ok. I admit it. I've got this Thing for Dragons. So, in amongst the other things that I've been doing, I've had it in the back of my mind to build my machine around a dragon theme. This is the first of the modifications that I have done. The original artwork for this can be found here. Judy is, IMHO, a very talented young lady who shows real promise. She lives a couple of hours south of me. Anyway, the first pictures are rather rough because I didn't have enough light and didn't want to use a flash because it washes out the image. First off, I had Judy split the image into a foreground and background, then I had the great guys at www.koolpcmods.com make me a laser etching of both the front and back on separate plates. Those are the first two shots. Then, I took a piece of 1/4" plexi about 1/2" wide and 2" long and glued one small piece to each edge of the back plate, and then glued on the front plate (after making sure everything was clean, of course), using plastic cement. Once that set up, I drilled a small hole in each side just large enough for a high-brightness blue LED. While I was waiting for the glue to set up, I cut a hole in my side panel a bit smaller than the plates and tacked the plates to the panel with a small bit of silicone rubber at 10 points around the edge. Finally, I glued the LEDs in place, again with the plastic cement, wired everything up, let it setup, then put the panel back on the case for the final pic. That is a nice painting. I can see that it would work well on a transparent medium. Is the background image physically set further back? I enhanced your photo a little: |

Now that is AMAZING!! Awesome work. I have been looking for the finishing touch for "Liquid Silver" and I think I may have found it. Now todesign a custom Logo for the window..........Hmmmmmmmmm ![]() Would it be possible to contact her either for her permission to use "Jellyfish" or perhaps pay to use the image. I would give full credit even down to her name engraved on the window. I think the image goes with my whole watercooling silvery scheme Again, Looks Beautiful ![]() |

Hey gizmo, I feel remiss for not commenting sooner. you have done a great job on your dragon. My son loves it!! He is a dragon lover. He has dragon zone bookmarked. Very trippy how you got such depth of field into it. Again really stunning work you have done on this! WZ & Matzilla too!

Thanks WZ. Coming from you, I take that as a real compliment. TBH, it turned out WAY better than I ever expected, especially considering what it looked like without the lighting. I got a bonus when I installed it, because the slight red tinge at the bottom is coming from the LED on my SCSI controller, which sits right at the bottom edge of the glass. That little bit of red coloring adds just the right amount of color to REALLY set it off. |

I was just thinking what a GREAT step by step article/How to do-to/ soon to become FAQ this would make,... for new front page! ":O}

Gizmo, That is freaking awesome! Someday...I may actually have time to mod the blue bastard to be something other than just a giant filecabinet-esque case. Edit: I never noticed this before, but from the linkies I followed I finally saw it. AWESOME!
