RGB LEDs

Just as a heads up to people who are interested in modding, and have some electronics skill. I've been playing with a couple of RGB LEDs that I purchased, and they're pretty neat.

They're made by Kingbright, and they look rather like a 6 legged chip, as you can see from the picture below. As they're RGB, there's three LEDs inside, one for each colour. Now, as you can probably guess, that there's two legs for each LED, and the legs are on opposite sides of the package!

If you wire it up with three switches and three resistors, then you can select the colour you'd like just by setting the switches, which might be good for colour wash. They're actually fairly bright when running nearly flat out, but they're not focussed into a narrow beam, so the light spreads well.

I have 2 arrays of 20 of these lights, set to change colour and pulse, as well as 3 different timings for the colour change. They are awesomely bright, at 20 packages...enough to leave spots in your vision for a while after just looking at them for a few seconds.
They were supposed to be part of my last casemod, but did not make the cut, however, they will be working thier way into my current project. You'll see some pictures soonish...lots on my plate right now!

Doing this with some of the luxeon lumileds might be more interesting, given the stupidly high output they have.

I've got a colour cycling circuit together, based around a PIC, and hope to write it up at some point. I'd also like to put together a programmable sequencer, so people could design their own light sequence for their case mods.
