I recently did my first monitor. Be warned...do not touch anything but plastic after the case is off the monitor. I swear I shocked myself so good that I nearly whizzed myself. I took the cover off the tube and bought this spray paint from Wal-Mart called Plasti-Cote. Sand the parts you're going to paint lightly just to rough them up a bit. Clean the parts with a slightly damp cloth, let them dry, then use even gentle fast strokes from the rattle can starting off of the part and then strafing over it and only stop spraying after you've continued past the part. (Man that's hard to explain). Do this in as dust free and as wind free an environment as possible. Make sure it's well ventilated and wear a mask, goggles, and protection for your hands (spray paint can irritate your skin with prolonged contact.) Go slow, and use as many coats as possible. Make sure to leave ample time for drying. If you clearcoat, the clearcoat will dry but remain "soft" for quite awhile. Don't touch that sucker for about a day or more. I let the monitor fascia sit for two days and when I mashed on it really hard to snap it back into place it left fingerprints in the clearcoat. (Go-go resanding/repainting!). Just remember, if you get a run or overspray or orange peel, do not try to fix it while it's wet. Let it dry and then sand it down. After you sand and paint again you won't even be able to tell. That's all I can say about it...mine turned out decent enough, but I think I could have done a better job. I have three more monitors to do coming up in the next few months. I'll try to remember to take pics with my sucky digi camera and post something.

Ah ok reason i asked is because i tried black spray paint once before and it was horrible. When i was done it looked fine but it was so easy to scratch if i would move the case at all it seemed to pop up with a new scratch.I assumed there must be a special type of paint so thats why i was asking ![]()
