A case a Klingon would love

Surely you can sand the case before painting. Just skip the primer.

it says on it plastics, vinyl, ceramic, glass, tile, metal and wicker.

okay, finished the basic black, gonna do the drives, and PSU in Red along with the trims, ie power button, the front of the cd slot, other buttons. but that may have to wait till tonight when it's cooler. and when i don't want to be offline.

Edit: Doi. i forgot to upload my piccies sides and front bezel on the line, and the case and floppy cage and mobo plate on the ground. then my painted hands

if the can said Free Car with Purchase, would you believe it? my* rule of thumb is..

clean, sand, clean, prime, sand prime, paint, sand, paint, wet sand, paint. and possibly wet sand, clearcoat, enjoy, get tired of it in less hours than it took to paint, and pick a new color and repeat. let it fully dry between sanding/painting. Personally I think any decent case painting should take anywhere between 3-5 days. That's just my personal opinion though. My impatient nature usually hacks that number up from 3-5 days to 3-5 hours. The results of the 3-5 day job usually surpass that of the 3-5 hour and withstands alot more beating.

i did it in 1/2 hour, and ran out of paint in the can. it's still dangling on the clothsline waiting for me to retreive it

Paint manufactures about requirements. Seems dumb, but they do. Seems the product that says it's easy sells better than one that says it's work.

i've got the black paint gone already, but i've got a can of red still to use as the trim's paint. Ie i'm doing the outer case of my Media Card reader, PSU, CD Rom and DVD drives. But the power buttons, and faceplates i'm doing with a brush since it's smaller detail.

I know its another $50 but my spray booth will help you save on paint because you don't loose so much paint in overspray.
When I started painting cases I was doing it outside and I lost a lot of paint in the wind. With my spray booth more paint will actually make contact with the case.
And you don't have to breath all of it.
