Window in the HDD?

I just saw a pic of the new WD Raptor 150GB 10000RPM HDD, and they have a window in the drive so you can see the platter and arm while the drive is working, i thought this was a cool idea, and i was wondering if anyone else has attempted doing anything like this to their HDD

I wouldn't try opening up my HDD.

i've seen it done on many websites, it appears to be a VERY tricky mod. you need to let NO dust whatsoever in. and you can't touch anything inside

It's been done many times. I'm not keen on the idea either.

I actuly did do that for my friend but the HDD was broken before. I made a windoes and put tinted plexi glass in there. I don't if th HDD would have funtioned after since it didn't work in the first place. We basically just used a plasma cutter.
However I must be honest it didn't look to good.

If you want to do this so it looks good, maybe just do it with a defunct HDD. But of course you won't seen anything moving!
