4D: The next dimension of gaming

OK. The planning is finally over. It's time to release all the information I have to AOA =D.

Thanks to A LOT of help from Favu, I've managed to finally plan my next mod. I'm going to rip apart my Xbox and newly bought, second hand GameCube, and put them into an acrylic case, when I manage to get my hands on one. The project is set for next week, aka the Easter holidays, and I'll post pictures of progress as I, well, progress. I will also be writing a tutorial on what I did, and how I did it.

The only problem I am going to be having is with the GameCube. If anyone has any links showing the interior of a GameCube, and it's components, or can give me advice on how I'm going to install it into the PC case, please help me, as I've never actually opened a GC before. The only problem is going to be that the GC DVD drive opens upwards, thus causing slight problems on how I'm going to install it. I'm thinking about installing it at the top of the case, so the drive opens upwards, much like the flap on my Thermaltake VA8000 Armor Case. Either that, or I turn it on it's side, so it covers the front of the case, somewhat, in which case, the disks would have to go in vertically.

Thoughts, people? =D

Edit: Attached are pictures of my Xbox. Take a good, long look at it. You'll never see it like this again =)

i sugest you look around for a page still showing the Ybox, it was made by a guy named Yoshi on The ScreenSavers on what used to be TechTV. He had merged everything into one, A PC, A GC, an Xbox, and a PS2 i believe. turned out pretty neat.

Yes, I'm aware of the Yoshi system. That guy is an inspiration to this mod. I salute him.

And yeah, I've already done the research, mostly. It's just the GC part that I'm a bit anxious about.

I've got a vague picture of what the front of the case is going to look like. This is my first time using SketchUp, so excuse me for my lameness. I also kinda rushed it, since I was doing my college work at the same time. The picture shows (in descending order);

- GC Power/Reset buttons
- GC DVD ROM without the flap
- GC Controller Ports
- Xbox DVD ROM
- Xbox Controller Ports
- Xbox Power/Reset buttons

Sorry about the quality of the picture, too. JPG is such a bad format =(.

That's going to look really cool, not to mention convenient
According to your example, you've still got some extra space near the bottom, you should see if you can get your hands on an old playstation 2 and fit it in there as well, for good measure.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out, good luck with it.

I have 2 PS2's at home. I wouldn't mind putting one in, but I fear that there won't be much space inside, since it's gonna be done in a standard ATX case.

Again, the space problem. The Xbox motherboard is going to take up the motherboard tray, so I can't really put another one there. Also, I'm on a limited budget :S

Bump.

Apologies for the delay. I've ripped the Xbox apart, but I am still looking for a case. I'm going to work on this mod properly on the 9th June, when both my exams finish and the World Cup starts.

Keep your eyes peeled.

PS: If anyone has a GC for sale, or knows where to get one cheap (besides eBay), please let me know, as I require one for this mod.
