Opinions Please "Lian Li V1000"

I’m considering a new case to replace my Thermaltake Tsunami as it seems my computer has outgrown the case, I need something a little bigger and cannot seem to find any cases I like apart from the Lian Li V1000, I’ve read the reviews and yes it’s a highly recommended case…. But I want real world opinions and experiences of the case in question.

Does anyone have this case or have used this case… What are your thoughts?

Even if you don’t have it what do “you” lthink of it?

Thanks…

RF

I read a review of this once, it was very highly rated, the only thing that was found to be "wrong" with it was the high price

PSU is a Zalman like the black one here:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Zalman_psu.html

That PC is in bits at the moment, so not that useful for pics.

Cabling is a doddle and turns out very neat. You may need some of the longer hard drive cables if you want to have the drives in the bay at the front. A 60cm IDE cable is just the right length. But, if the drive connectors on your mobo are at the very top of the board (top end when fitted), you may find 60cm doesn't quite reach.

Putting the drives at the front leaves the middle area free for storing slack on all the cables. So, you end up with an absolute minimum amount of cable near the mobo.

I've got a silver one with no window.

If you do get the window one, bear in mind that the window is on the right hand side of the case, i.e. opposite side to a regular case.

That i know Its actually better for me...

How are graphics temps affected by the card being the otherway round, in some ways i can see it being an advantage as the heat is rising into the HSF insead of though the card

Good question! I don't know the answer, but I'd agree it should be better.

The HSF is normally on the "wrong" side due to the legacy design of PCs. So, this design of case corrects that situation and puts the CPU lower down where the air should be cooler.

Thats a BTX case isn't it?
I usually find an old case to save money and mod it into a new one.
But That probably won't happen with a BTX motherboard....
Good Luck

It's an ATX case, but upside down.

I certainly have nothing against Lian Li cases, they're fine stuff, but just to point out another option for you: the Cooler Master Stacker 810.

Now, if you want expansion room, look no further. This thing you can park a 757 in! I'm serious, IT IS ENORMOUS! When I opened up the box and feasted eyes upon it, I nearly passed out!

Outside measurements (with wheels attached...yes, you'll want the wheels!) are about 23.5" tall x 8.75" wide x 23" deep. It has ELEVEN (11) expansion bays. That's not a typo! It weighs around 39 lbs., so girly-men need not apply!

The expansion bay covers may look "solid" from the pics, but they're actually mesh grilles so you get hellacious cooling potential from the 2 rear 12cm fans + 1 front 12cm, (which blows over the HDs)

One of the best features is that the PSU is mounted on the bottom rear of the case, where it sucks cool air in from under the case and the PSU exhausts out the back, so heat won't build up around your mobo. Side benefit is your PSU will last longer and run better.

Has screwless mounting, a gigantic mesh opening on the left-side door w. a fan mount, and an 8cm. fan also mounted on the top of the case. It will even take quad-CPU mobos if you are so inclined!

It's built like a sh_!t-brickhouse, comes in black or silver (I got the silver version, 'tis shweet!), and looks quite the biz too. I paid $137. + freight from Directron when they were having a sale, but it looks like Sundial Micro has them for that price right now.

Let me tell ya, it is sooo nice to have so much room to work inside a Winboxen now. w00t!

Wait a minnit...did I just say "w00t!"?? Yep, guess I did!
