Guide for installing a case-window fan?

I'm currently running my rig in an Antec Super-Lanboy case.

At the moment though, it's getting warm..ie it's coming up to winter and I can warm my hands by putting them on the front of the case ..but that's directly in front of my harddrives (3 western digitals) which currently run at 30 - 40 degrees.

I'm just wondering if someone can give me some guidelines on cooling this case down a fraction (at the moment I don't have the window panel on)

I was thinking about cutting a hole in the top of the case to put a heat extracting fan in and cutting a hole in the window to put an intake fan on so I was wondering if someone could give me tips on cutting my precious baby.

I would also like some recommendations on case fans and what people would recommend on CFMs etc.

At the moment I'm looking at Vantec Torpedo 92mm fans for both spots (rated at 119cfm, however the run at 56dB)

Also looking to purchase an Evercool PCAC blower to put in the 5 1/4 bay. (rated at 100 cfm) Has anyone had any experience with this little gadget?

Current cooling is 80mm extractor fan at the rear of the case and 80mm intake fan at the front of the case. Both fans are Antec but are only rated to 34cfm) Would it be worth replacing these as well?

TIA!

As long as you have ANY active airflow your hds will benefit. Just throwing on a small hd cooler that attachs to the bottom of the drive would provide ample cooling if you could get it to mount in with the rail-setup that case has. Or check to see if there is a 120mm fan mount between the front of the hd rail and the front case plastic. if so, pop the front off and slap a 120mm fan on there. dont really have to worry about cfm, because it doesnt take much to keep hd's cool.

What Xmetrix said. =)

The Antec Super-Lanboy case, eh? My brother has that one. What I recommend is put a 120mm fan in the side of the case, to the right of the heatsink, so your HD's get maximum airflow to them. I really can't think of anywhere else to put it. If you've never used a dremel before, now would be an excellent time to practice =)

funny, i just finished like 10 min ago putting a top 120mm exhaust and a floor (i guess i would count as intake) fan. my temps have dropped something like 7 degree at first glance. you should come up with your own air flow idea and make it happen.

you could try some HDD fan rigs, i've got 2 on my KlingonKase, they fit in your CDrom Bays and there's 2-3 small fans in them and they come with railings for the HDD.
