Surround sound mods

Since I play games, I need surround sound.
I don't have newest Logitech system and where am I going to put those wireless rear speaker anyways?
I started brainstorming a way...
I got a tri-pod last year for my camera and it came with an extra clip for the camera. So I put together a quick mounting solution for rear speakers.

First I bought a steel "T" for holding the speakers. Then I bought some cheap Wallmart speaker wall mounts. Drilled a few holes in the speakers for the mounts and screwed them to the "T" and popped it all on the clip.
Now I have removable rear speakers with a long extension cord and audio cord. Finish off with some sleeving over the cables.

What if I can't use a tri-pod?
I bought some cheap speaker wall mounts again, drilled some holes in the chair & speakers, and mounted the rear speakers on the chair itsself.
Another extension cord and 1/4" extension with some sleeving and you are done, 4.1 surround sound!

I can see how useful this would be if you were to watch movies or stuff often. The games I play, however, are close combat games and require headsets. ;D

I like the idea. I love the execution of the mod.

But I think I'll stick to my headset. =P

Good stuff, Boomie!

Come on, you guys are missing out!
Imagine Half-Life 2 without surround sound.

This is great. I used rear stands and it worked ok. I really like the mounting to the chair. I have the Zalman headphones but I still like my speakers better. Better separation I think.

Nice mate, thats cool. Ive always wanted surround sound, but because my computer is in my bedroom (problem with sharing a house) I cant because I'd be constantly tripping on wires.

Speakers on a chair though, now thats hardcore!!!

Stage 2 of the mod: Mount a 12" sub in your chair!

Hmm, sub woofer in the seat....
Not a bad idea.
By the way Rondog, I still have power and audio cables running from the chair to the computer, but I have bundled them together and made them at least 7ft long so cables don't get pulled out. So I still have stuff to trip over, but I try to stay conscious of it...
If you don't want to mess with cables then I'm sure wireless will be the way to go, but I don't know if you can buy a pair of wireless speakers without the whole surround system yet.
