The Wee Targ. ah, i got me a new wee beastie. alas, as the original IDIC pc's onboard video was fried before i ever got 'er truely working, and as the Klingon Komputer's Mobo went the way of a chainmaille shirt, and as the Starfleet Laptop's in stasis right now (batt's totally dead and waiting on a new power cable) and as the IPadd (my ipod touch) is insufficent for propper work and play, i had to get a new computer, just a P3 933, 256mb of ram. it's a Compaq desktop computer. it's from a surplus store so it's been used and abused and refurbished. i'm just getting the settings on it working right right now. ie scowling at the Windows 2000 Pro operating system that was pre-installed on it. i'm gonna upgrade it to XP once i can be assured it can handle it. It runs on SD ram... *scowl*. See pic below for an approx "before" shot. i'll be doing some extensive modding on it as... well, i hate anything plain. (for examples, see the IDIC case[It was the logical thing to do] the Klingon Komputer [A Kase a Klingon Would Love], the network hub of Klingon-ness! [A Network Hub Mod]) |

Wow, downgrade for hardware and upgrade for appearance huh? Sorry you have to settle for P3's and Win 2000.... You may be able to run Linux on it if you are in to that. Otherwise as long as it works right? Glad your back to modding again I look forward to pictures.

i actually found the website for the store i bought the Wee Targ from. Compaq® Pentium 3 933 MHz Computers that's the one i bought. i dunno though as to what to do to it. this is the first computer i bought more for specs/cost than an actual modding idea. i usually get an idea right off the pick up. but... not this time and it's BUGGING ME!!!! blarg. $100 isn't too bad. It has specs lower than most laptops.... This will definitely be a word processing machine. I'll just suggest to take your time and plan something out. Windows are allways cool but it will be on the top where you might put a monitor. Maybe you could do a simple window with UV light inside and then your monitor could have flourescent designs on it so they will glow....

It is funny that we are saying that it is not that fast. My first real gaming machine was a K62 450 with a voodoo banshee card. It did fine with win 98 and running Quake 2. I think with linux on this think it will be fine. Nothing blazing but still nice. Have you found any other desktop cases modded on the net? Maybe look around for ideas.

i do believe i've "settled" on a general idea for my mod. i've been playing with a "pokemon Pikachu 2" as some of you would know, and it's got a funky lil "painty-plastic" pattern for the top half. i'll be attempting to find and aquire some paint so i can replicate that onto the case, i'll be utilizing the... i actually don't know the term for it. the cool paint for the case mainly for the top part that comes away. i'll be using a darker grey for contrast for the front bevel and trim along the bottom. i'll be getting, (if i can find it here in London for a decent price) Blue EL Cable, and use it for trim. i'll be putting new foot pads on it for a bit of a raiser and light up the feet. and i need to do something with the bevel infront of where the HDD/CPU is sitting. i dislike the design of it. i'm thinking of if i can find it cheap enough, just get some of the "flecked" grey plastic and redo the whole top case. *sigh* that might just be a bit beyond my target, but i can at least dream ![]() the pikachu is attached so you know the "flecked" stuff i'm refering to. More ram would be your best friend on that box.

well, i've already took the syncronous sticks of SD 128, 100mhz and tossed in 2 sticks of 256 133mhz SDs. so it's already above stock. i need to figure out how to OC it.... which means i need to download and install PCWizard or something like that, i'll have to go look at some of my older threads to find precisely what i'm not fully remembering. |

Are you going to be able to add a decent heatsink & fan with the old socket?

Nice Nice Nice! I havn't touched any of that stuff since Last July. You know how it is... Kinda yearning to get back into modding but havn't really thought it out and purchased the tools. Then you finally break down and go to the hardware store and get everything you need. Now you have to start because you spent all that money on supplies and it would be silly to just let it set there. As you break out the case, paint, files, saws, sand paper, screwdrivers and band-aides, you can finally start the project. I actually get excited when I'm at the beginning because I know all the hard work will be worth it in the end. Please take a lot of pictures. I'm actually thinking about having someone else take pictures when I mod so I don't have to stop and set up the shot, etc. Looking forward to seeing your work.
