A hole and a window!

Just got my dremel and bored out a nice little hole so my oversized fan could poke through. I'm adding a window kit soon, already have the acrylic.

Yea, I got lucky with my Zalman 9700CNPS clearance on the side panel.
It cleared by 1/8"...just enough to be able to close it up.

Air cooling has become cumbersome! That looks quite a finish on your case! ":O}

Here's my setup.

Desktop. You can't see it but there's an ATSC digital antenna snaking away from it.

'Netbook'. I use a KVM switch when I need to use it at home.

the vent looks pretty good with the acrylic. For some reason I thought you were going to close it off....
Is that an EeePC in the photo?
tip: to get the wide stereo effect, you may want to spread those left & right speakers to the edge of your desk. It will make your music, movies and games sound "larger than life".

Look at the stereo speaker on my desk. I set them as far as they could get to hear the stereo separation.
I think we have the same desk too.
Mine is an old kitchen table.

haha i think we do have the same desk. mine is an old table that hasn't been eaton off of in years. thanks for tip on stereo separation, i usually just guess when it comes to acoustics.

I went through a lot of ideas and variations before I did that. I was originally gonna make the who side into a window and put an acrylic dome over the fan. I scratched that and decided to I was gonna put a 12cm fan over the hole. scratched that when I finished what I have now, figured it looked pretty good.

it's not an eeepc but it is a netbook. see sig for specs.

The bulging fan really adds a macho flavor to your case. Some outfit is putting Harley-Davidson engines in front of a small two seater airplane. Their new engine that Harley went to the trouble of balancing properly. There's a small cut out in the cowling for a bulge, almost as macho as yours!

Sounds awesome! Yea, I hadn't realized how analogous it is to an engine sticking out of a hood, but I definitely see it now. Got any pictures of that plane?
