| surlyjoe, is the material on the inside of your left and maybe right case covers? My A Box is 71db behind the PS. I've been told that my machines are loud. The nerve!!

| has anyone noticed an increace in temps after intalling sound absorbtion mats? I was thinking about using it, but if increaces temps more than a few degrees, I think I will stick with a noisy case.

| Dabearman gave me a hunk, I'm not sure exactly what its called, I put oit wherever I could get a decent size chunk to fit, it used to not make a whole lotta difference if the cover was off, now it does :-D its got pretty good airflow, I dont think it affected the case temps at all. OH! I also snagged a tbird 1100 for it runnin 10x145 ![]()

| SJ, slow to get to this topic. glad it is working out. the material is Rub-a-Tex, like roobatecs. closed cell expanded foam with a little rubber content for flexibility. easy to cut and glue into place. that piece is 1/2 in I think. comes in 1/8-2in thick. at work we use 1/2,3/4 and 1in thick. used a lot for insulation for condensation and to cut the noise of AC units/ducting. I find that it doesn't cause increased case temps when you have proper air flow. and it makes for a quieter pc. Last edited by dabaerman : 30th August, 2002 at 12:52 PM. |

| Cool, I wonder how it compares with noise cancelation foam. Its just foam too, but its suface is of a special shape to prevent noise from bouncing off it(cuts down on echos in recording studios, theaters, and what not). |

| Be sure to use some nice quiet 120mm intake fans Allan. The foam is only going to reduce the noise of fans enclosed in the case. If you've got adiquate air intake you can get away with putting a slower fan in the PSU too. I've got a Panaflow 21CFM fan in my Sparkle 350, that is lower than the ATX 23CFM minimum specification, been running for almost a year like that now. |
