I'm going to take the window by a glass company on monday, and have them cut one out of Blue or Purple.

I'm thinking about wrapping EL wire around it , and covering it so it only shines into the glass, and not back at the CD drives.

The hammered metal paint I used is like ceramic when it dried. But, I was able to assemble my case after only a few hours.

That el wire sounds cool. I even thought of using LED drilled into the edge of the plexi to have just te plexi window light up. Right now I have a smoked window.

I can't wait to see that beast of yours finished....

It'd be really cool if i could figure out a way to make the EL wire a HDD light.

Use clear plixi with RED and green EL wire. Green for power, and red for HDD access. The window would turn amber when the HDD was hitting.. Anyone have any idea how to impliment this idea? would a solid state relay be fast enough to make it look right?

Let me look at my books and see if I can come up with a circuit...

or alternatinvely, is the HHD light's voltage low enough for a transistor? They are just tiny relays when you get down to it.

You could prob put together a small circuit that uses the HDD lead to trigger the base of a transistor. Use the 12 V line and let the Drive light control turn on the transistor.

A week did I say? What the **** was I thinking.. I can't wait that long. I skipped the indoor coat on the shell because it still needs further modding.. so I might as well save some paint.

Should I paint the drives? I kinda like the contrast.

The inside if the door is flat black, by the way. That contrast, I definitely like.

Next I will be painting the two external RAIDs to match the main rig.

Ya think I should do the 20" trinitrons to match it?

I like that black hammered metal. I used the bluish color because I have 6 cans laying around. And yes paint the monitors. My 21" is gettin sprayed this week. Did the keyboard already..

That looks real good Azriel. The hammered paint is pretty damn tough too. I was toting my keyboard and dropped it on the sidewalk. Sure, it chipped the paint, but the keyboard got chipped too. I have another top, so I may just paint it and swap. The chip bugs the crap outta me.

After a month or so, a heavy coat of that stuff is almost unscratchable. (Dig at it with a screwdriver, and I'm sure you will get through it.)

I was thinking about putting 3 filtered 120's on the front, and 5 80mm fans on top. I still need to add a 92mm intake fan to the back on the CD side. The 120's for intake, and the 80's and the back 120 for exhaust.

I'm leaning toward a Biohazard symbol shaped "window" on the Mobo side pannel. Not really a "window" I just want to cut out the symbol, and put plexi behind it, and a fresh air duct to the CPU fan in the center with a filter over it if possible. Would a blue Biohazard look too dumb?

Do you have a need to make it sound like a B2 bomber?

With that many fans you should be able to run them at 7V and still have plenty of air flow..

I have yet to scratch the paint on my rig. I don't no what they put in that stuff but it is super tough..
