Temps

My cpu's temps are crazy! I'm running 1.9Ghz @ 2.05v, verry stable and rock solid, but my cpu's temps are 48c idle and 55c full load. Case temps are 29c. Is this board reading the cpu temps 10c higher than normal?

Thats the ondie temp there~ its a little higher then what you used to to see because the older boards were based off a probe under the cpu~ i would remount the HS and reapply the thermal grease of your choice~

Re: Temps

I wish I could attain your temps... my 1600+ @ 1833 with a thermalright slk800 idles at 43C and full load hits 60+c!! And that is using Vcool to reduce idle temps.

Although the AX 7 is a great sink, consider lapping it.

Re: Re: Re: Temps

Generic HS paste from Radio Shack and a 36CFM Sunon 80mm fan.

Before the 1600+ I had a 1ghz t-bird running at 1.539GHz and it idled at 44C and full load hit around 55C.

Doing some research I found that the Athlon 'c' was dissipating approximately 73W (the same as a 2200+).

I did have a mobo swap though... my original 8k3a+ rev.1.02 died and was replaced with a refurbished 8k3a+ rev.1.01 (with voltage drop problems) Unfortunately Epox and the Vendor refuse to do anything about it. (Last time I buy an Epox mobo)

I kinda figured, but thought I'd be remiss if I didn't ask!
Is the fan blowing or sucking on the AX 7?

I thought so.
To answer your first question, yes, the temps you are seeing are about 10 C higher than actual. If it's stable, I wouldn't worry about anything, it's a bit unnerrving to see those temps, tho isn't it. As long as the system is stable, it's cool (bad pun).
