water cooling advise

I am inexperienced i this topic. this is why I'm here. I would like to know what's the best cost effective water cooling kit out there. I heard bad things about the iceberg. I read that there were some that the acrylic that holds the water cracked and corrosion. I don't remember the brands. Anyhow, I would like a kit for around $150 maybe less. Which is much more than I was going to waste with the slk 800 and a fan. I want it to be effective, not warm and as quiet as possible. Also I would like it to cool the 9700 Pro. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Water will be more expensive than air in all situations. £150 will get you a basic kit, which to be honest wont be much more effective than air cooling but a fair bit quieter. The solution I personally would go for would be to construct your own system. You will need a water pump, water block to cool the CPU and a radiator of some sort. For a radiator the best bet is a car heater core. in the US, chevy chevvette heatercores are popular. And extremely effective as well as a fraction of the price of a "proper" watercooling radiator! Waterblocks pumps and tubing can be found pretty easily. www.dangerden.com are pretty good to start out with. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

There are quite a few things you need to decide or think about before you buy anything.

Tale a look at different manufacturers and see the sorts of products and options they give, some might be confusing but you can ask here.

Basically you need a waterblock (for CPU) pump and a radiator.
plus tubing, clamps and a resevoire if you decide to use one.

heatercore is a good way to save cash, you can go with a more pro finish like cooledbywaters rig or Random Nonsenses more ghetto approach (www.spodesabode.com)
i use a commercial rad as im lazy.

1/2" silicone tube is what id recomend using as its the best.

Pump id go for an eheim 1250.

personally i use a OCPC atlantis waterblock (www.ocpc.co.uk) but there are ALLOT to choose from and everybody has there own oppinion on the best.

i allways use a resevoire in my system, makes bleeding air and refilling so much easyer but its hard to fit one into your case..

Thats basically it, but its much harder :P
