Northbridge cooling

I was wondering if it would pay off if I started actively cooling the Northbridge, using a small fan of some sort?

Currently, on my A7V333, there is a fairly large heat sink seated properly on the north bridge. With AS3, of course.

Do you think I would obtain anything in the overclocking arena if I cooled the north bridge some more?

Personally, I don't think its worth it. The heat sink is hot, but not too hot to touch. If any of you disagree, please step forward. I would like to have your views on this...

Thanks in advance.

If you have a little airflow passing around the northbridge, it should be enough.

I'd only consider it if I thought the fsb was being held back, and I was confident that my memory could go higher.

I have the FSB at 171 currently (Because I want fast RAM timings).

If I back down on the RAM timings, I can up the FSB a lot without any problems..

If you go water cooled then you are going to need to active cool the NB cuz there is no air flow from the CPU's HSF.

If you plan on overclocking via FSB and really want to crank it up then it would probably help alot to cool the NB.

If I were you I'd pull the sucker off and reaply with ASII, on the ECS's the NB cooler would BARELY touch the four corners of the chip and not be very effective.
I hope that helps.

I am water cooled, yes. I still have a fairly good airflow inside my case though.
