Talking A Computerised Wind-Tunnel!

I've been buildin a new PC, rig 2 in my sig.

Powered it up today with a little relay I bought that runs from another PC.

BLOODY HELL

5, yes 5, Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2's make WWWAAAAYYYYY lots of noise! Lucky I bought 2 Vantec fan controller's to quieten them down! The machine is near silent when slowed right down!

Lucky it's not a 24-7 machine!

The 7 80mm fans @ 12v in my system reminds me of the birthing compartment on a Navy cruiser (USS California). Homer sleep now...zzzzzzzzzzz

Why not set all the SCF's at 2300RPM or so, they are very quiet at that speed yet they still push a decent CFM.

I'm going to order a LM338 adjustable voltage regulator and see how low I can go and still have sufficient cooling. With three parts, you should be able to set the fan voltage to something that gets the job done without a ton of noise.
