Great project SJ !!!

Just wondering...... any idea of the original application of the compressor and the transfer thingie. Did you say it was from some kind of motor setup?

I have to wonder how much difference there is between this and a drinking water fountain set up. You know what I'm talking about. The kind they had in the hallway in High School or at the local store. I can remember having a very cold drink a few times from those things. I'm just curious if you could do something like what you have there using the cooling system from a water fountain. Just recycle the water.

Just a thought for anyone who has access to something like that.

Like This

There has to be hundreds of surplus ones from demolitions and such.

Added: I went and looked around a bit more on that site. Look at the pic below. It's almost the same thing....

They are claiming 50 deg water @ 90 deg ambient
Rated at 280 watts / 3.3 amps(full load) <-- Ouch !!! on the electric bill.

I'm certainly a novice at non automotive AC and prolly way over charged it, but were gonna take it to dirty Dons tomorrow and let an expert luagh at us

it was so cold comin outa the exchanger it hurt my hand ... for about 5 min

All right SJ, I held back all night last night from posting and asking. It's got the better of me now......

What did he say, what did he say?

BTW: Have you figured out how to cool off a six of Coors with it yet. Nothing like a duel purpose Reservoir.

hahahah!!! well without using a bunch of new words I learned yesterday it seems capillary systems, unlike systems with an thermal control unit, are real picky about the amout of freon they have in them, which is directly related to ambient/load temps and my Flintstone metering techniques have left me seriosly low on gas at this point..

Unfortunatly HVAC techs arent quite as willing to help newbies as PC techs are, most of their response is"hire a professional", but I think I have most the info I need know, I just gotta decipher it

I've generally found that the HVAC techs I've dealt with do not necessarily know why they might be doing some of the stuff they're doing. This makes getting information rather difficult!
