Phase change almost complete (many pics) Well its been a fun few months trying to figure out what do do for my phase change project but now all is complete except a Hose to connect the Evaporator (heatsink) to the compressor. I started with this. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lee.nagle/smirnfr.jpg http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lee.nagle/smirnfr2.jpg After ripping the insides out I got me a nice compressor and condensor in one readily piped together saving me some work. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lee.nagle/compevap1.jpg Stuck with only basic materials and not wanting to waste money on my first project in case anything went wrong I came up with a simple evaporator design, the final evaporator is a little different but the same principal. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lee.nagle/evaporator.JPG And after much hard work and 3 attempting brazing/soldering sessions I got this (still hot to touch in this pic) http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lee.nagle/hotevap.jpg SO far so good, im just polishing and cleaning the evaporator now, Tested it in water with a 12v tyre pump attached to the suction line and its withstood 80PSI with no leaks for 6 hours so I've ordered some hose and insulation hopefully this baby should get -15 to -25c on the CPU, not too shoddy for a first "ghetto" attempt and all made with parts available in homebase/focus and a free freezer.

looking at a few maze type designs and thinking of keeping the refrigerant in the evap for the longest possible time but using "normal" available to all parts, as well as studying alot of stuff by Bowman, Baker 18 and JR over at xtremeforums/phase-change.com
