Cool 127c ???????????????

Just built a second Pc cheap as chips, Barton 2500, PcChips board. Problem is the CPU temp is reading 127C in SiSoft Sandra and in Motherboard Monitor 5. In bios it reads as 45C. Everything else seems OK but as it is a build for someone else, could do with solving this. No heat or smells from processor.

Any Thoughts.

Thanks,
Andy.

If the BIOS is reading the temperature correctly, then the sensor obviously works fine! MBM5 can be configured to read one of a number of sensors, so check that it's reading the correct sensor. As far as Sandra goes, you might be out of luck on that one.

Basically, there's one chip in the system that actually does the work of reading the temperature. All the software has to query that one chip, so if you're getting wierd results, it's because the software isn't reading that chip correctly.

I had exactly the same problem on a Jetway board, showing exactly the same temperature. Never did fix it.

Iwant to raise FSB to 200 to give me 3200 speeds guess I'll have to take a risk.

In my experiance Sandra has rarely had proper temp readings for the CPU.

I just OC'd to 3200+ speeds on my 2800+ Barton. The Sandra test can't give a straight answer: 39C, 181C, 0C... it is all over the map! But MBM5 gives consistent good temps 38C - 42C.

I have seen temp reading problems with the ECS & Biostar boards as well . I flashed the bios in an old Biostar board that previously read the cpu temp in the bios menu and the updated bios eliminated the cpu temp reading . Guess they just gave up on it ?
