I have two of them in use to good effect. They make a good product.

OK here's the truth.
I have next to die temps on another board because Koolance came with one.

I really don't pay that much attention to temps anymore, just stable and unstable.

With Auto shut down a part of the last 5 or six BIOSs I've used that pretty much takes care of it self as far as extrema temps...as far as day to day, as most "reported temps" are guesstamites, a rough ball park to begin with,

unless the temp is taken on die, more real info on temps is pretty hard to come by. In summer when/if I start to see instabilities, I back off, then crank her up again in the late fall.":O}

you want to use CPU for 12 years?

no.... right?

i belive almost no one keeps their cpu's that long. By then, you have something.. much faster beyond......... and beyond.

not that i'm saying the severely oc'ed/tortured/overheated cpu will not last 12 years but.... still, most people wouldn't want to keep it that long. I go get a p4 64.3ghz 5gb l2 cache on a extremely sophisticated die techology.

one of the CPU's i've tortured and molested was the Palomino xp1600+. I left the heatsink without a fan, for hours. When I came back, I started sniffing. snif snif.. hmm... and then snif again. I SMELL BURNED COOKIE YUM YUM. it really, smelled good.

The cookie smell was coming from my burning hot system.

Result:

mommyboard? - nope.... not dead.

CPU - nope, not dead. (incredibly impressive, aint it..)

All parts were fine. The CPU temp must've reached well over 100C, probly.. 120C i would imagine.

In other times, ive gone though waterchilling/tec cooling, put it to torturing what not.. Never managed to kill any CPUs that I own. The only way to kill the CPU is to crack the core, or take it out and throw out the window and drive over it maybe...

nope.. I am not kidding. I failed to manage to kill the CPUs. Why is it so damn difficult to kill them? i don't get it... I.. just... don't.... get it.

The motherboard is easy to kill though, piece of cake.

Reminder: but do not run the AMD CPUs without a heatsink, that will put your cpu to death in matter of few tickx. This message is for: new overclockers. Brought to you by: whatever ~

-whatever-

thanks for you info on your temps.

so if you OC a 2.6 cpu to say 3.3 and run it @ 24 c idle, would the CPU
last at least 5 yrs?

does any one else use a W/C peltier chilled CPU block?
