Question Question about watercooling...

I'm thinking about watercooling my cpu and have a question in mind....

possible components:
swiftech mcw6002 waterblock w/ half inch ID hose everwhere
dualfan heatercore w/radbox
aqua 1300 inline pump
5 1/4 bay resevoir

If a dual fan heatercore is mounted outside the case by a radbox, how much does case temp affect the temp of the cpu. I have a mobile athlon 2500 overclocked to 2436mhz with 1.9 vcore and get 48-49 degrees celsius cpu full load with 29 degree celsius case temp(This is with a slk-800 w/delta fan@4800rpms). Will case temp affect it as much?

Tom

The internal case temp should not affect the CPU temp if your radiator is external to the case in a separate unit. Just ensure that the motherboard still gets adequate ventilation from good airflow through the case.

With the Delta screamer you had on there it probably had good ventilation then and the surface mount components benefited from it.

Also make sure your Radbox has good ventilation but at the same time keeping the pipe lengths short to increase flow rate.

Good luck,

Laz.

Will I get better performance with that setup then the air cooling setup I have now? That delta is starting to make me deaf....

The components look good. Most importantly you will get much quieter performance. I would recommend having a 7v 80mm fan directing air over the components around the cpu socket. The secondary cooling performed by a standard heatsink/fan should not be underestimated or undervalued.

Talking

The temps might not be better, but the silence pays well for itself, man

Personally, I did not see anything bad in your idea, you choosen good block (I use it too) and 1/2" tubing is a must + good flow in loop and that it it.

I run passively and hit 50C at 2600Mhz. Details in config in my sig

Processors love heat!
