Want 9800xt cooling solution

I dunno what's wrong with it - it kept crashing, finally opened the case & took a look at the temperature & it was at 94c and rising while the fan did about 200rpm, yes 200, I could visually estimate that. Weird thing was when I touched the fan with my finger it kicked back up to normal speeds. I just dusted it off and am going to try it again...

Anyway it's always run a little hot in my opinion and if the fan is shot for some reason: I'd like to look in to an aftermarket cooling solution. And i don't care how loud it is. All I care about is how well it cools and that it will last. Every time I look in to something it's like "OMG IT'S QUIET, WOOT, BUY IT" And I don't care.

Seriously I haven't slept as well since I moved the system in to a much quieter case. I miss the droning fan noise.

Help will be appreciated

i have both the ATI Silencer3, and the Zalman ZM80d-HP, and both work great with my XT. the problem with the zalman is how difficult the installation is...took me 5 times before i got the thermal paste right. The ATI Ailencer was simple...just 4 screws, but does not perform as well.

Good news... for me: it's working. Dusting it off didn't help but i realized putting pressure on it did. The fan kept making grinding noises without pressure on it... Anyway I turned my case right-side up (it's been on it's side for a while) and stopped the fan with my finger, gave it a little push and it was off running quickly and silently. And if I were going to crash I would've by now.

I'm content with it working for now, but thankyou for your quick reply.

yep I agree with cadaveca the silencers are easy but the zalman was tricky to fit but gave better results on my x800pro @ xt pe, although the first attempt at fitting the temps were higher than the stock cooler, soon sorted that though!

I am running a 9800Pro 256 with ATI Silencer 3 with 2 80mm side fans pushing air in On the VGA cooler and one in front also.
I have 2 80mm exhaust, one top, one back, plus the 550w duel fan out and of course the Silencer 3 Fan. Right now I'm at 432/378 no artifacts max voltage 63C idle 70C hard gaming AA.
I used arctic silver on the 350 chip and the 8 mems. Had to cut
a little off the corner with my dremel for the ram fans on the Corsairs. Easy install and will work even better when I reinstall
water cooling on 2.8 Prescott-currently factory air. Mark 3 6733.
Will be higher when I can crank the Prescott out to 4 Ghz, now 3.0. "My Grandmother moves faster than that" Silencer 3 A-OK
