For about the past week my main box has been making ALOT of noise. Too the point that my wife is starting to complain. Now the WHOLE reason I went to water cooling is for a near silent PC that will run 24/7 and fold. I can't have this box making noise but it was, alot!!

Turns out all it was, was the pump rattling around in the rez. It would vibrate right against the walls of the rez and make a really bad noise. Here is a pic and video. I hope you can make out the noise.

Here is what I found to help me in my quest to shut my box up. Just some plastic drop cloth and heavy duty paint stripping pads. Cost me about $4 total. I washed the pads out real good before I submerged them, just incase there was any thing that might have fallen off of them. I didn't want it to get into my system.

What I ended up doing was only using a little bit of the drop cloth and folding it up and setting on the very bottom underneath the pump. I orignally was thinking of using a mouse pad but I wasn't sure how long it would hold up under water, and I'm sure after a while the glue that holds the cloth piece ontop of the mouse pad would break down and eventually get into my system.

I used the two pad on each side of my pump to keep it from "walking" around inside the rez and eventually hitting the side wall the rez and putting me right back at square one.

Dude... kick it up a notch and get a plastic 5 Gallon paint bucket. Kicks up the water volume and makes for more cooling.....

Temp. & Volume are are disproportional..... The more volume of coolant the lower the temps. That and it won't make a bunch of noise.....

It might save your bride's sanity as well........

As you can't see, I don't have a hell of alot of room!!!!

If your pump was silent before and it's rattling now, this is because its impeller is now unbalanced. All you've done is silence it, not fix the problem. No real issue, just set your BIOS to shut down on over-temperature and have another pump to hand.

Recommend you strip your pump down and ask why it rattled.

It's a new pump. But I might to as you posted and check it.
