Enabled temp. monitoring

Well I took the big risk and modded my bios in the MSI 6600GT to enable temperature monitoring. Worked! Whew! Idle temp is 46c and 67c at load according to rivatuner. This is with the card at 526/1000. I feel alot better now that I can monitor the temps.

That sounds about right with the skimpy cooling you get on the 6600 cards.

Was 525 the most it would do? you usually see 550-600 from GT's

Haven't pushed it past 540/1000. No artifacts at 540/1000. I keeping safe with 526/1000
right now. The msi 6600gt I have has the big heatsink that cools both gpu and memory. Not the best, but is the best stock heatsink of all current 6600gt's out there. Overspent my budget, but I'm planning on putting a Zalman on the card soon. So far I'm impressed with the performance and temperature.

They're good cards as long as your res of choice is 1024x768. Just put a 6600 in a friends system which I overclocked to 500/660 and he's happy as larry playing HL2 and CS:S at 1024x768 with high settings

So true. I can farcry & css at 1280x1024 with no aa and 8 af at high. These 6600gt's just don't have enough bandwidth. DDR3 helps along with the high gpu frequency. Just waiting for the "7" series! Hot enough to make the paint peel on my case!

Got my XFX 6600GT at 590/590 with the Zalman 700 copper/aluminum and it runs at 40 idle and maybe gets to 51 loaded.
