Cooling advice for a 5 + psu fan system

I have recently purchased a new case for my PC. Succesfully moved everything out of the old case and into the new one, but i have 5 fans. 2 at the back, 2 at the front and a window fan with an exhaust part.

My question is which way round should i have my fans for the best heat flow.

Also i'm not sure which way i should have me fan on the window. Blowing into the hsf or blowing out of the case?

I sound like a right noob ere.

Btw i'll take pics if it's needed.

i have 2 hard drives infront of the 2 fans at the front, will that obstruct air flow? i'll take a pic in a sec...

http://img309.imageshack.us/img309/8261/image0045yf.jpg
Front view of case, the blue glowy thing is the front LED 80mm fan, there is a black 80mm above it. The hard drives are in front of the fans and have a rounded ide cable.

Side view through window UV reactive 80mm fan.

Rear view of 2 uv reactive fans.

Any tips on increasing air flow and getting the overall temp of the case down, i have a thermometer in the case that was running at 41c yday while playing HL2

Thats fine for what the outside weather is like at the moment, best plans are to mave cabling to allow air to move straight across the motherboard and out of the back, this allows the cpu fan to have cool air intake

What's the best way to get those pesky psu wires out of the way? I can't find any cable sleeving on ebuyer.com that will match my case (i'm going for a purple uv look). the only one is red. any ideas where else to get that stuff from?

simple as, basic cable ties. get a bunch of them from your local hardware like place (b&q, homebase, etc if must be you can get them in all colours if you really must!) Put a tie around the cables and hooks them into one of the mounting slots on the 5 1/4inch bays and also on the psu can tend to get them out of the way (depends if you have a fan on the bottom of your psu)
You can also get cable ties with sticky pads as part of them as well if you wanted to peg them to your back plate or so.

Oh and i agree with Lazgoat for the fan directions My case flows well on 3 fans (i in side, 2 out rear) today under full folding load my case is at 32C My room i'd say will at least by in the mid - late 20's.

I currently have them tie-wrapped but due to the lengths of the cables it's quite hard to get them into a place out of sight, they seem to be a bit too short. The psu only has 4 molex connecters, and i have about 4 bridges to get power to where it's needed (2 optical drives, 2 hard drives, graphics card. Then there's the fans on top). I reckon i should get a fan controller! Which should un-complicate the lack of molex connecters, as i have to use a bridge with a 3 pin adapter on it for them to work...

Is this worth buying?

Or is there anywhere in the UK that i can get it cheaper from? (online e-tailers preferably)

mapplins do fan controllers, (they're not that cheap tho!)
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...36990&doy=14m7 is one
you can go into one of there stores browse and pick one up.

It would appear that ebuyer do them as well, be warned of the tackyness!

You'll find all fans will run at there max speed. A fan controller will only let you limit the speed in an effort to keep overall system noise down. Therefore, if you can't to increase airflow, the Fan controller will do nothing except add some more cables to the mix.

It was more of a way of avoiding using molex bridges to attach the 3pin adapters to. They seem to just create a big mess of connectors that are hard to squash into a small space! Whereas if i can get a fan controller i only need to power the fan controller and the fans will plug into the fan controller and take care of it, right? All i need to get are some 3 pin extensions so i can hide the wires around the edge of the case windows so they are out of sight!

Yeh the fan controllers on ebuyer look mega tacky, and i have nice matt black case with a perspex front, that's why i liked the look of that super flower with the perspex front and black cover plate. It would fit my case perfectly. It would also match the front panel which is brushed metal as well depending on which looked the best.

fan suggestions

Hi everyone, I’m a newb to this forum. My first question might sound stupid, but is the fan on your psu and exhaust or intake fan? Some psu’s use the fan as an intake fan to cool the psu, which inevitably blows warm air into the case. If this is the case you may want to switch the fan around.

Second you may want to consider using only one front intake, and installing the other on the side under the video card. The reason I suggest this is air brought in from the front goes over your hard drives thus making it warmer by the time it gets to the center of the case. I don’t know how hot your hard drives get, but usually one intake fan up front is fine. If your hard drives are too warm with one intake you could put cheap passive heatsinks on them, or get a bigger fan since there will be only one.

Third, if you choose not to install a fan on the side, you may want to turn around your side fan into an exhaust. It sounds kind of crazy, but you’ll have cooler motherboard, video card, and overall case temperatures, but your cpu will go up a few degrees. I don’t know if your overclocked, but if your cpu can survive it it may be worth it.

I'm not overclocked, but temps seem to be around the 32degrees mark atm, it's nice n cool again here in England. Pretty pleased with the cooling now on this machine, just need a fan controller now, so that i can turn the noise levels down a bit when my computer doesn't need as much cooling.
