Vga cooler

I have an artic cooling vga cooler 3 from my old 9800pro @ xt. Does anyone know if this will fit a X800pro, I believe pcbs are identical so I can't see any reason why I wouldn't fit. Thanks

I take it that the cooler screws onto the PCB? If it does and the X800 has the screws holes the same distance apart, then yeah, it should fit. Just be warned, it may not be able to dissapitate enough heat for that card. One i'd recommend is the Ice Chameleon, can't remember who it's made by but it's great and quite recent. Not sure if it would fit your card though.

An X800 is cooler than a 9800 so it should handle the heat just fine.

If the screws are in the same place then it should be ok, X800pro's don't have memory cooling do they? if they do that could be a problem

no they don't, that's why the heatsink is smaller than the old 9800xt apparently

It won't fit. I have one, it can screw it on, yes. But there is no way to power it through the card, and I don't think there's any kind of adapter you can buy for it. I'd suggest a VF-700 anyways because it'll fit any card and doesn't recieve it's power from the card.

I had a similar problem fitting it to my 9800pro cause it was on a xt pcb, i removed the tab on the coolers connection so the 2pin connection could fit the 3 pin one on the card

Wow. After I posted that I got myself thinking. Why wouldn't a 2 pin connecter work in a 3 pin slot? So I brought the old Arctic Cooling Silencer Rev. 3 out of the closet and tried it. It worked and now I'm happy.

Is that working on your X800? Exactly what I thought when it came from overclockers, I compared the 2 connections and removed the tab and as if by magic!

There was a tab sticking out from the side of the connector on the cooler which I had to trim off so it would fit in the video card connector. How has it affected your temps?

They're sittin at 37c's for now. I think it was like 58c's before or something like that. I didn't shave the tab, just sorta jammed it in there. No problems thus far.
