Medion Radeon 9600TX replacement fan problem

Hi there,

Recently my pc started crashing when playing games (Half life 2 etc).

After some investigation I found out that the fan on my graphics card (Medion Radeon 9600TX) was no longer working.

So I need to replace the fan, I have been looking at the Arctic Cooler range, but herein lies my problem.

I need to correctly identify my card to ensure I purchase the right model cooler, I have just spent 30 minutes on the telephone to Medion technical support only to be told that the card is definately an ATI Radeon 9600TX, however ATI do not list this card only a Radeon 9600XT.

After some research it appears that the information given to me by Medion Technical support is wrong and the card was actually manufactured by MSI for Medion and are based on the Radeon 9500Pro.

However I can not find out if this was simply a rebadge of the Radeon 9500Pro or if the card itself is built differently - without identifying exactly what card this is, I can not purchase a suitable cooler.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how do they solve it, or does anyone know what card this really is?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Lee

First off...

The 9600xt has a pipleine configuration of 4x1 at 500mhz core.
The 9500pro is at 8x1 and 275mhz core clock.
So find out which card you have, if its a 9500 sitting at XT speeds, then damn..
Next off, go for this, its suppose to be universal use. Give it a look-see

All 9XXX have the same mounting holes.

Oh and R300 is a 9700. So it's actually a 9500 by the looks of things, as the 9700 and 9500 had the same core.

Whatever the program he used to detect it is stupid. His card is a 9600.

The PCI-ID never lies, and the ID 4E46 is a familiar one in the 9600, not the 9500.

Technically it is an RV350 NF, not an R300. You may want to write that down for prosperity.

All good though, a cooler is a cooler.
