fan is TOO fast

so im buildin a comp for my dad...VERY similar to mine, but its stock fan right now on the cpu, so i start it up before, got its arctic silver on and all that, ok its not going over like 56 degrees or so under load BUT the stock fan is FLYING at like 4700 rpm!!!! and sounds like a damn jet is about to take off, what is possibly wrong? i took it off put it back on, same thing why is it flying?

sorry i posted it there and then thought about it and figured it should be in cooling, my fault...i tried to adjust it to slow down but like cpu is gettin hotter then it should i guess or something and its just speedin up like crazy to compensate, i dunno guess im buyin another zalman

my fan had 6000 RPMs at 53 C.

i think the fans are controled by teh computer itself depending how much heat teh CPU makes.

dont worry...it probaly wont take off...mine didnt

get a thermaltake golden orb aslong as your dad isn't OC it should be fine. it works well for pentiums only. if you OC get the BLUe orb 2.

i dont know much about pentiums but i do know that the prescotts run really hot in the first place to 53c is not too bad for the cpu. if you want to cool it better i would suggest an XP-90 or the Zalman 120mm HS.

Prescotts double as electric bar heaters.

I see "Vantec Tornado". Now they are noisy. They can also double as Desk fans should you need it.

My favorite part of my Vantec Tornado is the nice gyroscopic effect. You can probably make a small hovercraft with one of these.

yea ima prob buy another zalman for him bc thats wat i got in mine and its good i got the 7700 thought might get him the 9200 or watever the vertically mounted one is
